What are y'alls opinions? Everyone says Velvet Cactus and Superior are the best, but I honestly think they're overrated and too pricey for the quality.

I feel like every place I've been to is just alright.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time someone tells me how much they love it. The margaritas are nothing special and the food is so bland. It seems like the only flavors they use on their dishes are salt and butter.

Superior has great food, but it's really expensive and loud.

Velvet Cactus has terrible food.

La Carreta is just ok.

Mestizo's is alright, but it's not traditional tex-mex, more of a fusion restaurant.

La Tiendita and La Morenita are the two most authentic and delicious places, but they're not places with anything resembling "atmosphere".

Define 'Everyone'. This esteemed board hates VC. Superior is decent but pretty expensive for what you get. I think Tiendita and Morenita are the best in town.

All of my friends and family love it. Other people that I've talked to love it too. I've never heard anyone in-person say anything bad about it.

Then again, some of my friends love Texas Roadhouse so maybe they're not the best source of info

We talking real Mexican or Tex-Mex? Sarita's on the Diversion is opening in Denham near Bass Pro. They have the best Tex-Mex I have had in the area.

As far as authentic, La Morenita is my go-to

Authentic, fusion, tex-mex, it doesn't matter - just curious of everyone's opinions. I've been craving some good Mexican lately.

Not saying it's the best, but the gas station restaurant at the corner of Gardere and Burbank called "Burrito" is pretty damn good. Little Mexican lady in the back cooks up everything fresh, and it's all traditional since most of her clients are the Mexican people that live around there

I like Superior. It's expensive.

The "best" place for me is La Tienda on Siegen near Airline. Right next to a Mexican grocery store. My friend took us there once, and the prices were ridiculously cheap. I spend $8 there and barely finish my food. But that place is the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge.

Best and authentic can be mutually exclusive. But I'd go to La Tienda over Superior any day, besides a date with a girl.
