You're not going to find really good jambalaya in a restaurant. Try to find a cookoff or make friends with someone to cook it for you.

There aren't many "great" jambalaya's in Baton Rouge or even sold in stores or restaurants in general. The best is generally found sold at little benefits and festivals. However, my favorite that can be bought most days is T. Wayne's in Prarieville. Another good one is Lamendola's in Gonzales.

The Jambalaya Shoppe family of restaurants (which includes Pot & Paddle and The Jambalaya Spot in Port Allen) all tastes pretty similar. It's just ok. Out of all of those, I would probably say the Pot & Paddle on Jefferson is probably the best, but they're all basically the same.

Oh, I just thought of exactly what you need.

Veron's Supermarket in Lutcher makes and sells jambalaya and pastalaya in their parking lot every Saturday. It's some of the best I've ever had.

Cross the river and go to the jambalaya spot on 415 in Port Allen.

ETA: while you're there, go a little further down and hit up Bergeron's

If it is not moist, it;s not jambalaya as it should be.

Yeah, Jambalaya is inherently not a quality item at any restaurant due to the time it takes to cook, and the inability to refrigerate/freeze and re-serve.

That's very true what you say about jambalaya...You can get some good Gumbo and fried seafood at a variety of places in BR, but I've yet to find a BR restaurant that makes a really good etouffee.

As some others have stated, you're not going to really find good restaurant jambalaya.

Maybe look for some local churches selling plate lunches. The jambalaya served with BBQ'd chicken for the St. Francis lunches in Iota was always pretty damn good.

When do you need it? If you are just looking for some to feed yourself and friends, I'll extend some southern hospitality and be happy to cook you a pan on the house.
Just let me know what day, and we'll arrange a pick up.

Nice gesture. The best jambalaya is definitely at some dude's house. Had Pot & Paddle today and it's very good for a takeout jambalaya.
