I love the catfish at Hi-Nabor deli, but to taste perfection in the art, go to Crawford's. They are fresh, very lightly coated and crispy, cannot be done any better. And they don't oversalt as many places do.

Portabellos recently changed a lot of their menu and their fried catfish is really good. The lunch options on weekdays are affordable too. Dempseys is hit or miss IMO

I like Crawford's catfish too. OP, it's sort of an old school diner place so certainly nothing fancy. You might be the only one in there under 70

I used to joke that they don't have servers, they have pallbearers. It was packed when we were there and several younger eaters from businesses and medical. But it is an older crowd, I've been eating there for 20 years, now I'm one of the select.

Mr Ken was my realtor. He sold my last house and helped us negotiate our current one. Ken is a good man.

I eat there occasionally too. I like Crawford's. Just good old, no frills soul food with very good fried fish

The deli at Matherne's Downtown fries some of the best tasting catfish in the area.

Not sure that’s catfish, but it’s some good fish either way.

I’ve eaten at Crawford’s many times but had not been in a while. Went on Saturday afternoon/evening based on your and several others recommendation. It was very good so thank you!

Haven’t been to Crawfords in a long time, but don’t they import their catfish and that’s why they can’t call it catfish. It’s called C-fish on their menu.

+2 for Dempsey's as my favorite.

Crawfords is good too. We get a pound or 2 from there about once a week but I usually pop it in the air fryer for a few minutes as I like mine extra crispy.
