Looking for a new automatic drip coffee maker. My 5-year-old $35 Mr. Coffee has seen its last days, and I'm currently looking at the Cuisinart DCC-3200 and BUNN NHS Velocity Brew. Hesitant to pull the trigger because even though they are highly rated on Amazon, I still see a lot of negative reviews that the Cuisinart doesn't brew it hot enough, and that there is an electrical smell with the BUNN and that it will start leaking at some point. I've had a Cuisinart DCC-1200 about 10 years ago, but never thought the coffee was hot enough. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Not sure if they live up to the hype, but I'm currently eying an OXO or a Bonavita. Only problem is I want an auto start feature, not sure Bonavita offers that.

I have one and it doesn't, but it's definitely better than the bunn as I had that one as well. I was deciding on whether to pull the trigger on the technivorm and saw the bonavita one day on clearance at bed bath and beyond. Sales for $179 and I paid $80!

That made the decision for me. I like it, but it's plain Jane. It does brew rather quickly though. That Bunn has an auto feature, but it takes forever to brew.

To the OP... look up the specialty coffee assoc of America and there is a list of them. They test all of them to make sure they water consistently gets up to the correct temps. 3 of which have been listed in here are on that list. Technivorm, bonavita and the Bunn Velocity. I had the Bunn and I currently have the Bonavita. Bunn was slow as shite and didnt come with an insulated carafe. The Bonavita is the best bang for the money, brews fast, but has no clock, auto start etc. It just has a start button, but the carafe will keep coffee hot for a minimum of 2 hrs.

I have a Benita and it's the best tasting coffee I've been able to brew at home. There is no auto brew and the carafe is a little weird... but I'd get another one if I was back in the market for one

Read online that Bonavita does make one with a clock and timer...think it's the BV1900TD, but it doesn't look like Bed Bath and Beyond carries that model. Another thing I read is that the Bonavita offers "pre-infusion", meaning it'll pre soak the grinds before brewing the pot.

They also have the Bonavita at sur la table. I wasn't looking for it at bed bath... wife wanted to go in for a couple things and I was walking by the table and saw it. Was on clearance and we used one of those 20% off coupons. We had pretty much made the decision to go technivorm, but couldn't pass up the price. It brews great coffee, much better than the Bunn.

This is the correct answer. Drop the real money on a real coffee maker and a great burr grinder.

Mine works fine, but it has this horrific plastic smell in the water chamber and the filter area.. and I feel like the coffee tastes like it too. It smells like the assembly line or something - I don't know.

I'm thinking about just saying screw it and switching to French press.

I got a coffee maker at dollar general and had it for years before it died. Always worked for me. It cost $13.

To my knowledge, Williams and Sonoma is the only outfit that sells this model.

I purchased a Bonavita about a month ago and have been pleased with it. It was recommended by the guys at my local coffee house. Very few moving parts; no gadgets; just brews coffee.
