I am not picky. I'll eat local, seasonal, fusion, foreign, etc. Give me your best recommendations for restaurants and tapas joints in Barcelona, please!

I go there a lot for work.

Bar del Pla in old town is very good and very popular. Get a reservation. This is a very touristy area but the food is better than a tourist trap by a long shot.

Barra Alta in Gracia is Michelin rated and dynamite. Very underrated and local. Maybe my favorite spot in BCN.

Merendero and Barcelonetta are the in-fashion spots near the big name hotels on the beach.

Botafumiero is supposed to be really good but I've never made it in. Always has $1m of cars out front. Very high end. Have a drink at Casa Fuster before or after.

I was just in Barcelona 2 weeks ago.

Ca l'Isidre
Very nice sit down Catalonian style restaurant. The king and Queen of Spain have been known to eat here. You won't find many tourist eating here.

El Chigre 1769
Popular tapas style restaurant. If you have more than 2 people, you may want to get there early or see if you can get a reservation.

Mercat De La Boqueria
This is a popular open air market with a number of different vendors. Some vendors have barstools around their stalls for customers to sit down and eat (tapas style). Others are grab and go.

Barcelonetta

My wife and I spent a part of our honeymoon in Barcelona, and this place was recommended to us by a couple different drivers we hired...we thought, sure, they probably have relations with folks there.

We had a list of all the hidden, local tapas spots, which were great and all, but a pain in the arse sometimes to get to after being out sightseeing all day.

We decided to have one of our drivers take us there directly after being out of the city Cava Llopart...I have to say, this place exceeded expectations.

I'd throw Cellarer Bar on calle de Mallorca out as well.

Tast Ller
Tiny place with a set tasting menu. Fantastic food.

Tapeo
My favorite tapas bar. Modern style with gourmet level food.

El Xampanyet
Across the street from Tapeo. Typical old style tapas bar. Casua, fun and crowded. Atmospheric place but the food and wine are better at Tapeo.

Arcano and Llamber are two fun and lively restaurants that serve tapas style dishes.

All of these places are near each other in El Born or the Gothic Quarter.

You may want to post this on the Travel Board.
