I may be showing my age a bit but when I was a kid there were 2 varieties of apples, Red Delicious & Granny Smith.
Neither of these were very good but Red Delicious was garbage.

Fast forward to today, I can't even keep up with all the varieties and it seems like they discover a new one every few months. I've pretty much tried them all and for my money you can't beat a Cosmic Crisp. Cheaper than a Honeycrisp with the bonus of tasting better.

Is there any that you recommend? Please don't say Gala.

My entire life I've disliked apples.

Then I had a Cosmic Crisp. That shite has changed my life

Sweet Tango if you can get them in your region. Best apple I’ve ever had. If you like Cosmic Crisps, you’ll like Sweet Tangos.

I'm in BR. I'll keep my eyes open. For some reason that sounds familiar.

I like Fuji also. I forgot to mention them. That's my go to if they don't have Cosmic Crisp.

Never had this. But the Honey Crisp is the best apple I've ever had.

Cosmic Crisp is the texture of honey crisp but much more flavor.

Cosmic Crisp

Had a freshly picked Cosmic Crisp while in Washington state a few years ago. Every apple I've had since has been a gigantic letdown.

A fresh handpicked Honey Crisp right off the tree is pretty darn flavorful

I might have gotten a bad batch of Cosmic Crisp, but I thought they were way too dense. I like the lighter Honey Crisps better.

I still like a good crisp Granny Smith. But if I'm buying red apples, 9/10 it is Envy apples. Sweet, thin skinned, incredibly crisp, slow to become mealy.

I'm always willing to try a new apple. None have topped the Envy yet

I don’t mind Envy but all the ones I see tend to be small.
