I don’t think anyone makes that here. It’s hard enough to get a decent new orleans style roast beef let alone a Chicago style Italian beef.

You can get an okay philly

If I am in Chicago, I either have been to Portillo's, or am planning when I will drop by for an Italian Beef. To me, they are a destination food item. If I don't get one (or two), I haven't been to Chicago.

Stein's and Fharmacy in New Orleans do good versions. Stein's only has it on Saturdays, though. Those two places are the only ones I've ever seen on a menu anywhere in Louisiana.

Chicago Beef > Philly Cheesesteak

It's weird more places here don't do them because it is closer to a NO style roast beef poboy than a Philly is.

I've used this recipe a few times. Maybe not super authentic, but it's pretty good. I've found giardiniera at Albertsons.

TBH, I think my favorite in BR is probably Capital City Crawfish, but they’re not doing poboys during the social distancing. So, in the mean time, my favorite is probably Jed’s.

That bread looks way off and he even says the method he used to cook the beef, while good (it actually looks like how you would cook a NO poboy roast beef), did not really replicate Chicago Beef.

Thank GOD we didn't have to see how the OP would've butchered the spelling of this delicious concoction.

MD I haven't been to Portillo's but I had one from Johnnie's Beef and it was fantastic!
