Anyone know how to make fish Tikin Xic? (Yucatan style fish)

I get it when in the Yucatan but never see it in any Mexican restaurants in the states.

It's fish marinated with a certain chilies then wrapped in onions and banana leaf and grilled.
It's so damn good.








Looking for a recipe if anyone is familar with the dish.

For authentic Mexican dishes, I think Rick Bayless does a really nice job usually. I've never made this:

Here is one from Pati Jinich, a Mexican lady with a PBS cooking show. I've never made it, but I must have seen it on her show and been impressed enough that I saved it to my recipe files. Just happened to see it and remembered this thread.

Tikin Xic AKA Achiote Rubbed Fish

Looks like she made it on Season 5 Episode 509, Isla Mujeres Inspired.

That sounds kind of awesome. I've made several of Pati's recipes, and they have all turned out well.

Love this.
First had it at Playa Lancheros, Isla Mujeres. Long time ago. Ceviche right out of the ocean too.
Part of my soul is still there.
