No really cold weather here in Orlando and my Chocolate Moruga Trinidads have been producing since late August and here's Friday & today's harvest

50 of these diabolical bastids

Anyone else harvesting any heat themselves?

damn those have a great color. guess I've never seen those whole before. I've only ever grown chili peppers, banana peppers, jabenero and jalepeno peppers. all of which grow in the summer here. those looks great through. can you make some homemade salsa with those?

I'll give most of them away......lots of people I know want one or two...I've frozen a bunch, dried some and turned into powder.

The flavor is terrific and smoky......you just have to be smart enough to use as an enhancement......pot of chili 2-3 gallons with a tsp of the powder is great..Personally I'm not a fan of heat just for the hell of it and you don't need much.

Smoke those bad boys and grind them up.

Ferment some as well.

Absolutely.....combine small amounts of them with other hot peppers to get a blend of hot. There's a recipe in a thread somewhere......just do a search for Nuclear Salsa......you can add/replace one of the hot ones with these if you'd like.
Here's the recipe

NUCLEAR SALSA
WARNING FOR ANY WIMPS THIS WILL BURN YOU TWICE.
4 large beef steak tomatoes chopped
4 16oz cans diced petite tomatoes don't drain
3 Habanero peppers, diced
2 red chilies diced
3 Serrano chilies, diced
3 Thai bird chilies diced
6 jalapeno peppers diced
1 ghost pepper diced
1/10 of a small scorpion pepper
3 large sweet onion, diced
2 large red onions chopped
12 large peeled diced garlic cloves
2 bunch of cilantro chopped
3 Tbs. salt
1 tbsp granulated garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
4 Tbs. brown sugar
Juice of 6 limes
Juice of 4 lemons
5 Tbs Olive oil
2 Tbs black pepper
1 green pepper diced
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar

Wear gloves for sure and combine all ingredients in a large bowl and let sit in fridge to allow the flavors to meld together. This is for chileheads......you can adjust the type/amount of peppers as the base recipe is really good.

My habanero plant went crazy this fall/winter. I gave a ton away, smoked a bunch and made a mango hot sauce, i have a bag in the freezer and i also have a mason jar filled with vinegar and peppers.

When my Thais come to fruit I'm gonna try your recipe. Minus some of the vinegar. I want fruit and high heat. Not sour.

Do you keep your plants in a pot or inside? I planted a bunch of banana peppers last summer in my garden and they hardly made anything

I just planted mine in the garden next to the tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, etc. they were about the only thing to do worth a damn and I had more than I knew what to do with.

Have you dried and crushed them before? I'm thinking of investing in a dehydrator and looking for ideas.
