Anyone been to Galliano's on Julia St. in the Warehouse District? I'm thinking about checking it out this week?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Ate there for Sunday lunch about 3 weeks ago.

Wasn't crowded- which is good in my book.

Had the family with me so we had a good sampling of the menu. Food was good to very good. I had a shrimp and okra gumbo salad with a side of bacon green beans. The green beans were the standout. Had a couple of mixed drinks that were also good. Wait staff was responsive and efficient.

Overall it was above average. Prices were acceptable. Would definitely eat there again.

One of the kids had a shrimp poboy and one had fried fish. Don't remember if these items were on a kids menu or not. Either way both of them ate most of it. They also split an order of onion rings which were really good. The wife had a salad with grilled shrimp that she enjoyed. Cant say we had anything that I would say stay away from.

The bar looked like a good place to spend a weekend afternoon also.

Enjoy.

Went a few Fridays ago for dinner. For what it was, I thought the food was good. It reminded me of a Quarter View or New Orleans Food & Spirits type of restaurant (fried seafood dishes and lots of heavy entrees) with a trendier vibe/atmosphere. Service was okay, but I was with a large group and the restaurant was crowded.

For appetizers, the table shared the Popcorn Shrimp, Chargrilled Oysters, and Crabmeat Gratin. The Oysters and Shrimp were good, but the Gratin was a bit disappointing--was a bit watery and just seemed too rich.

My wife and I split the Paneed Pork Chop with etoufee, which both of us really liked. Several others at the table ordered the pork chop stuffed with andouille, which was also good.

Most of the portion sizes were pretty large, which isn't typical for restaurants in the area.

Overall, I would say it's not a restaurant I would go to often but would certainly recommend it to people from out of town as the menu has great variety.
