Heard it is much improved of late. Trying to decide where to eat around here tonite. Also, what about the Italian place on Trenton in the old Casio building? Tia

Italian place isn't bad
Not near as good as Cory Bahr's Nonna though

I haven't been to Sage lately, but have heard the same thing. Their chef recently won the King of Louisiana Seafood award.

Roma is the Italian place you're referring to. Food is good, nothing special. It's a step above Olive Garden. Prices are very reasonable.

You might also consider checking out Governor's Cigar tonight. They're supposed to have some food trucks down there this evening.

I would love to go smoke cigars and eat food trucks with my man Friday but it may be hard to pull off for an anniversary. I'll think we do Sage. Either that or Genusas.

It is better now - would recommend

I would go to Geno's or Genusa's before the place in WM.

Warehouse is good these days
The Greek place is on point
Waterfront was good last week
Have not been to Cotton in a long, long time

FYI- Sage was real solid. Blake Phillips, who recently won the King of Seafood crown, is putting out some tasty stuff. I've always liked the outside red oak oyster grilling station and I'm glad they kept that. We had 4 each of the baked brie, Rockefeller and chargrilled oysters. They were great for the most part except for a couple that got a little too close to the fire and were a little too charred. For other apps we had the Tuna Tartare which was money and the mahi tacos which were ok. Little too tangy but the fish was cooked perfect. Entrees were the poached redfish which was good and the blackened grouper, fava bean, and sweet potato puree dish he did to win the Seafood king crown. It was outstanding. They were not overly packed being a Wednesday night, but the service was on point. Sage is worth checking out if you havn't been lately.

Disagree, but I like Geno's. Genusas has stepped up there game recently. They have one of the better lunch menus in town.

Good to hear. Mecca staying on top of the La. food scene, as expected.

I'd look hard at that Grouper dish if he's still offering it. It's not on the menu

Their grouper has always been top notch, as has been the tuna tartare or tuna tower dishes. Glad the chef is doing good work.

I've only been for lunches over the past year or so. Been solid every time.

The place has been on the market for a while, Mr. Balls....you should buy it for us...

It's my understanding that Bahr is no longer a part of Nonna or Cotton. He's supposed to open up a new restaurant downtown.

I think he's still apart of them. Just not at either very often. He started a new catering thing and will be traveling a bunch. At least that's my understanding

Found this

quote:

“I am really proud of what we have been able to establish in Monroe,” Bahr said. “I’ve got an amazing team at Restaurant Cotton and Nonna, which allows me to focus on this new venture, and I am excited to take my Delta cuisine on the road.”

He still has ownership interests, but he's no longer working at either restaurant.
