I can't remember when I last had an electric can opener. Maybe in college? I've had the same handhelp opener that probably came from Walmart or Target for at least 8 years.

Progressive ratcheting can opener. I've had this one for about 10 year and have have several offers to buy it for much more than it costs.

As previously mentioned, the side cutters are great. I have had mine for a decade or better

i dont prefer these as i eat quite a bit of canned tuna and need the lid to drain the water or oil.

I have been using one like this for about 5 years. It was a given to my by my mom. It's probably over 20 years old. Works like a champ.

I threw my electric away and strictly use hand held. But I found out that not all hand helds are the same. My wife brought hers in with the marriage. I tested hers and mine and was shocked at the difference. One was 5 times harder to turn than the other. I threw that one out.

The one I kept is a Swing-Away.
