Arguably, she's correct, you know.

I've been a few times, it's a "don't miss" every time I'm in town

I can't see it Oteece. A correctly done fillet doesn't have bones. A whole fish has bones. I don't see how eating a fish without bones increases your chances of eating a bone over eating a fish with bones. Maybe it's my fouled up redneck logic.
Fwiw I'm a whole fish man myself and have no problem dissecting one without eating a bone.
Fwiw2 If Winkface tries to argue a bunch I'm gonna hit her with a bone eating joke

quote:Key here. Many folks het a bone when they presume the filet is bone free. They often aren't, salmon included.

With a whole fish, all but a fool will follow the anatomy and avoid the bones.
Wink, why the hell am I having to make this arguement for you?

quote:Ditto. Except for big saltwater stuff, I'm damn near dissappointed when I can only have filet.

I agree. Most of the time when I roll em out of the can, I just go ahead and scrape all that undesirable crunchy stuff off, don't like the texture in my fresh salmon crow ketts.

I have no problem finding Pacific NW salmon at most any grocery store in Dallas. And it is always fileted just like the Atlantic farmed salmon. Possibly, people don't know there are differences in Atlantic and PNW salmon....salmon is salmon to most people. Atlantic salmon does seem to be a bit less expensive so people go for that. And restaurants also probably buy Atlantic salmon because it is cheaper....i.e Asian shrimp.

true and it's sad, but that's what you get when you can exploit part of your working class for next to nothing wages.
I don't see it like that.
Shipping is extremely cheap and we are essentially giving those people jobs to do. It might be a next to nothing wage for you but its not to them.

I like Salmon. A lot. I only eat it once a month or so because I'm "raising a family" (poor) and fish costs a lot more than chicken or pork or beef.
Ask those folks if they think they are getting exploited. I'd bet they're glad to have a job.
