I've been sipping on Cruzan dark rum on the rocks. I know there has to be better rum out there. What is good on the rocks?

Light rum is for Women. Good Dark rum can be very good, over ice or neat.

Why is the man in the picture pouring Gin?

There's a local distillery called rich grain that makes a great white rum. Has a nice smokey, vanilla, coconut flavor. Very easy to drink straight.

Is that any good? One of my buyers gave me a 50mL of the silver. Haven't opened yet.

You're kidding, right?

Bayou Silver is like chewing a piece of cane and the Select needs to age for another 3+ years.

These are all different and won't break the bank:
El Dorado 15, Kirk & Sweeney 18, Appleton Estates 12. And if you buy one that you don't love with ice, pour just a little soda water in and add a lime. Or just make a Rum Old Fashioned.

If you like rum and have any interest in history I recommend "and a Bottle of Rum" as a light, interesting read. It tells the history of the new world via the history of Rum. I actually listened to it as an audiobook- got it cheap on an Audible sale. Nothing earth shattering but enjoyable.

I'll definitely check that out. Thank you. It sounds similar to Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, An American Heritage--which connects the history of Bourbon with our history including Westward Expansion, Taxation, War, etc.

Rum is OK on occasion. I like Dark. Appleton Estates 12 is what I'm currently drinking. About 3 ozs. over one rock.
