Not that i give a damn...
But how do they grow these? Are they years and years of pumping fertilizer into a field of pumpkin plants or do they focus on two or three plants? What is stopping me from growing this in my backyard? If they left it on the vine, how big would it get before the plant died?
So many questions that i dont give a damn about :(

America started the 'big pumpkin' and 'big watermelon' contests. They were mostly done by gardeners are small farmers who grew them outdoors and cross bred seeds of really large ones. In fact, if you won the 'big' title you could recoup your costs by selling the seeds to other competitors.
However, this record breaking pumpkin from Europe is from a commercial hot house... like a 5 acre hot house. They set aside a small portion of the building to nurture this pumpkin. So, the plant grows all year long under totally controlled conditions. One guy said "If you don't have a crew and you're growing this plant by yourself is a 40 hour a week job."

Looking at that pumpkin is like watching Carl Lewis in his prime...
