Better food....Mike Anderson's or Ralph & Kacoos?
Frequent Mike Anderdons often during football & baseball seasons but haven't eaten at a R&K's in years
Good sushi around Bluebonnet Perkins Rowe area
TIA

Sushi Yama for that request. I haven't been to Ralph's in 20 years, so I can't offer an opinion on the other.

Mikes and Ralph's are both awful. Go to Chimes or Parrain's

mikes is just ok
I'd eat at a gas station before Ralph and kacoos which is a shame because when we were kids that was where we ate out

I would prefer to spend my money with a former Tiger great. Sadly though Mike Anderson's has really gone downhill over the years. I used to really like that Jason lunch special they have on Thursday and even that is not all that great anymore. I was in town on business a few weeks ago and left asking myself why can't this place do better. Been asking myself that the last dozen times I've eaten there. I'm not going to say it was awful but it wasn't all that good either. The gumbo was also terrible and had crunchy tomatoes in it.
I would go to Parrains.
I would go to Parrains.

Mike's still has some good dishes. The Howard is one of my favorite fish fishes, the fried shrimp and softshell crab are good, awesome mac and cheese and baked sweet potato fries for sides.
R&K's blows
Sushi Yama for sushi. Some of the best in the city. The tiger roll is to die for

Ralph and kaccos WAS a great restaurant before it was sold years ago....i would not eat there today if it was free...a group out of Dallas owns it now and it's terrible....not sure how they keep the doors open.
Mike Anderson isn't that great either....i do like there oyster specials and a few dishes....but it's not as good as it was at one time
Parrians on Perkins is much better choice than either one of those

I agree with the consencus that MA's and R&K's are both shadows of their former selves and that is a shame because I used to frequent both places when they first opened. The original R&K's on Airline was very good and I remember MA's when they used to be on Highland Rd. To answer your question, I like MA's better. We still go there from time to time. Haven't been to R&K's in years.

Make sure MA's hasn't been struck by Jewish lightning in case you do decide to go

The location in Gonzales for Mike Anderson's is under different ownership, from my understanding. These people actually put out a good product and much better than the Lee Drive location.
Ralph & Kacoos, no idea. Restaurant has been dead to me for well over 20 years. It used to be one of the places to go and I can remember spending many nights there with my family and for homecoming / prom dates.

That was actually the second location. The original was on False River. It was a really good place there, though.

If you're willing to take a 20 minute ride (from the Sherwood Exit on I-12) to Watson, Duke's Seafood and Steakhouse is the very best place for seafood around IMHO. Beats even Parrain's three ways to Sunday.
The gumbo is the best in this area, and the broiled flounder makes an excellent and tasty meal. It is cooked to perfection and comes about as large as your plate. There're also a lot of other items on their menu worth trying. I haven't had a bad meal there, and have brought guests who still rave about it.

The flounder at dukes is good. I will give you that. But I thought the place was very overrated. It's a better version of Don's. I didn't care for any of the fried food that I had there. I thought that was odd as fried stuff is usually the easiest thing to execute.
Lagniappe would be my first seafood choice in BR.
Parrains is decent, and the Roux 61 place is decent but kinda over priced.

My parents go there often and really enjoy it. I've been once and I liked it as well. Unfortunately for me, it's a 45 minute drive from where I live.
Duke's is about to expand. Going into the former Piccadilly on Range Avenue at I-12.

I agree, Duke's is legit. Can't beat their 1/2 price oyster specials on Mondays.

Cant beat applebees or las palmas
