Went last night for the first time; thought I would give a review: (long)

Grade: B+

Were seated promptly by two very attractive hostesses wearing what looked like gold shimmering ball gowns that were chopped right at the crotch in length. Nothing but legs and arse hanging out. As I was escorted to my table it took every effort not to get busted staring at her arse by my girlfriend. (I did not succeed).

The place is really decorated nicely. A very modern, Vegas-style steak house. Fairly small though.

We were given an iPad which contained the cocktails, beers and wines. Simply press the one you want and a server will bring your drink. Pretty modern.

We were given as a pre-appetizer? a plate of small salty bengniets that were sitting in a little cane syrup topped with white truffle shavings and had a homemade strawberry jelly and butter on the side. The bengniets were dense and was a good combination of salty and sweet. GF loved them.

No appetizers tonight. We both had the filet, both ordered medium. Mine came out medium well, GF's came out well. These were not properly cooked. She was ok with it (usually she orders medium well) so we did not send them back. What was strange was that one half of GF's was well and the other half was pinker, not the center.

You can get any of their "steak enhancers" like frois gras butter, N.O. barbeque, blue cheese crusted, etc. We got the bearnaise and herbed butter on the side just to try. First bite of the steak and we both thought they were too salty. But for some reason after a few minutes we adjusted and really enjoyed it. The flavor was great but could be a little salty for some. GF had crabmeat topping and she loved her steak. In fact, it was one of the best steaks we've had in a long time (salty and incorrect temp and we still loved it, can't figure it out). The steaks come with a side of bone marrow topped with these sweet rendered onions. Also delicious, but difficult to get at the marrow. They should warn you it comes with the steak as picky eaters like my girlfriend are not excited to see a giant bone on the plate with their filet.

Sides were a plate of Lyonnaise, which was fingerling potatoes shaved and cooked in bacon fat and sweet onions. Sweet snd savory. They were outstanding and different. I recommend them. GF ordered the potatoes gratin. They did not bring them to our table after several requests. Said they had burned them the first time. We got them at the end of the meal with an apology and no charge. They were whole fingerling potatoes boiled and covered in fontina cheese. Tasteless and bland. No salt. Do not order these.

Only problem of the night was we were not waited on attentively. Waitress did not come back to ask if we wanted more cocktails, drinks, etc. Also ignored us most of the night. Had to ask for her twice and waited about 20 minutes from the moment the staff took our dinner plates till she came back our table. We sat at an empty table with no drinks, no dessert menu, no iPad. I was pissed off so I didn't order dessert. Usually I like to order two desserts to split and some more drinks, but not this time. Bill was about $115 but could have spent much more with a better server.

Summary: Food is excellent and worth a try. Service needs to improve. Great addition to Baton Rouge.

Yeah but the flavors were all there. I can't understand it. Normally I would have been upset with the steak temp, but we left there thinking...that was one of the better meals I've had in BR in awhile. It was strange. Maybe they laced the shite with cocaine. The B+ was given mainly for the flavors of the food the atmosphere.

I would not give a B+ for overcooked steak and bad service. Also, if your girlfriend wants to order medium well steaks, just bring her to Lone Star.

I posted this earlier

Just got done. All in all it was decent, but I have to agree other places have it beat hands down. Appetizers were phenomenal. Pork belly was amazing and they had the best BBQ shrimp in BR. Seafood bisque was good but not the best. I ordered a 20 oz bone in ribeye cooked medium rare (I know but bone in steaks are my go to, particularly porterhouse if they have it). It was a Meh cut of meat; had too much fat and connective tissue in it between the good portions. Had a bite of my dads filet and it was good though. Service was below par as well; had to ask twice for refills on water. Sullivan's porterhouse is still my favorite steak.

In addition I had the NO BBQ sauce. It was great at first but it started to wear on me. I was hoping for more along the lines of the BBQ sauce that came with the BBQ shrimp.

Also I felt they wore modest dresses that weren't low cut, but came down around the knee (was day before Mother's Day after all). I'd give it a C.

I also went this week and had a similiar review, medium steak come out medium well to well. Service was good for our visit but $40 for an overcooked 10 oz filet earns a d- at best.

We will not be back. Ever

I'll go with a B.

Steak was overcooked but good. I ordered mine medium, it was medium well.

Asparagus and buttermilk mash potatoes were awesome.

I had the gumbo and 16oz ribeye. The gumbo was good, the steak was really good. Not quite ruth's chris level. Better than or comparable to Flemings, Sullivan's, etc.

Service was good.

The martini that my wife ordered tasted watered down and wasn't worth the $11. For that and the slight overcook, I'll go B.
