15 gates are now open on Morganza, expecting peak flow to be on May 22.

Water is not projected to get to I-10 until tomorrow. Morgan City 48 hours after that.

Water is flowing through the spillway slower than forcasted.

In BR, expect high water for up to 3 weeks, crest will not be fast to drop

Water backing up into North La rivers are not as bad as they thought. More akin to regular rises.

At Natchez, the water will be higher than the previous record for 36 days straight.

River traffic closed temporarily in Vidalia while they determine if the wake is what caused the seepage in the convention center barriers. Water is no longer seeping into the convention center in Vidalia.

Vidalia sand boil breach has been plugged.

Estimated ~4,000 folks have evacuated thus far (across the state). This includes the voluntary and mandatory (he listed it by parishes, so guessing).

1,488 homes and 1,046 businesses have had their power cut off.

Leave the fricking wildlife alone (okay, that's not a direct quote)

Installing 9k feet of RIBS, asphalt & HESCO baskets in Krotz Springs.

Preparing 2500 feet (number may be wrong - slow down Bobby!) for Morgan City to prevent backwater flooding.

Installing 2 miles of the above on LA 70

In BR: DOTD is monitoring Scenic Hwy, River Road, US 190 and a couple others for seepage.

Angola evacuations are complete as of yesterday. No other correctional center evacuations are expected.

DHH has increased the supply of anti-venom in case of increased amounts of snake bites that usually happen in flood events.

FEMA is here doing preliminary property damage estimates

Dept of Revenue is going to allow (on case-by-case basis) delayed tax returns for effected people.

emergency.la.gov for latest stats and info

Now doing Q&A and bitching about possible budget cuts for public safety, dhh and public education. Pimping his own proposal.

He mentioned it, I think it was on the Corps' site but he was talking too damned fast for me to get it down. :(

They just did a "trial run" to see if a large S.Bound tow would cause a large wake. It seems that it did not this time.

RIBS are a trapezoidal shaped sand wall system similar to the HESCO system except able to go 6' instead of 4' in height. We purchased a massive amount of these for the Krotz Springs project.

Let me check and see if I can pull some up. This is the Krots Springs project from an aerial view. I will get some close up of the RIBS installed when they are available.

Here are some specs on the RIBS:

Thanks for the Corps document .. that was a very thorough explanation. They illustrated the use of Tiger Dams which we are implementing as well.

Under the Old Bridge on US 190 near Airline Highway, they indeed installed HESCO baskets with visqueen covers.
