With the flood projections appearing lower and lower with each new release, (especially in the basin) what do you expect the public response to be in the end?

Will more people be thankful and relieved or angry with the COE for missing the projections and creating a panic?

What does the consensus think?

they should be thankful/accepting that the COE erred on the side of caution. If they would have pinpointed the height and the water would have gone just above people would be raising nine kinds of hell.

Same thing happens just about everytime the Amite floods and I haven't seen too many people upset with a lower crest.

They will expect FEMA to pay for their motel stay after forcing them to evacuate to higher ground.

and remember that with hurricane season coming don't buy that new generator until a hurricane is heading our way and keep that receipt in a safe place.

Thankful and a lot of this was luck. If the basin wasn't literally bone dry from drought conditions, this could be a whole lot worse right now. Still, we aren't even nearly out of the woods yet either.

That's the angle I was thinking about. I know that my in-laws spent lots of money and time moving livestock, farm equipment, and possessions, even renting a house on higher ground for what looks like a non-event in their area (Concordia Parish). They are not the type of people to ever depend on FEMA or complain about the work, but I also know that there are plenty of folks in this entitlement era who will be looking for someone to pay for their efforts.

Uh, lemme see... *weighing losing home/property vs. having to move out for a few week*

I agree with this. I think a conservative prediction beats the alternative, and I hope people realize this.

St. Martin Parish did an excellent job not jumping the gun and keeping people aware. St Landry Parish jumped the gun by a week with mandatory evacuations which was nuts

We still have 2 weeks left to deal with this and it's not over yet. Wait until then to claim that you called it in Nostradamus.

I will not relax until next Saturday. By that time the river will crest. I spoke with someone in the know yesterday and lets just say that there are a lot of things not being made public. This thing is far from over.
