A stretch of River Road just south of Brightside closed

This is due to water seepage area along the levee. This closure will be for the duration of the high water period. No through traffic will be allowed. No permit or oversized loads will be allowed. DOTD state detour routes will be Skip Bertman Drive on the northern end and Gardere Lane on the southern end of the closure. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution in the area and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

great, about 1/4-1/2 mile from my house. Drove down river road today and didn't see anything major, just ditch on levee side holding a little water. They have a stack of sandbags but that area looked completely dry.

i imagine you are correct--if you live within that stretch you are local traffic and not through traffic.
