Which MLB offenses are the worst

When choosing matchups for pitchers, which teams give the pitcher an added bonus due to the sucky lineup?

Other than Astros

re: Which MLB offenses are the worst
Miami, Minnesota, Seattle, Cleveland, Pitt, SD all have bad/average offenses and play in big parks. Cubs are pretty bad as well.

Doesn't the ball fly farther in the high altitude??? Wasn't it the Rangers who made a world series one of these past years?

Astros, marlins, Yankees lineups, all pretty decimated (although Yankee stadium plays well to leftys).

Oakland & Petco (SD) are known to be a pitchers parks, although SD moved the fences in this year.

BP factor

Maybe this will help?

quote:

Park Factor compares the rate of stats at home vs. the rate of stats on the road. A rate higher than 1.000 favors the hitter. Below 1.000 favors the pitcher. Teams with home games in multiple stadiums list aggregate Park Factors.

Meant to put Tampa in the offense/park category too. Starting a LHP against the Dodgers lineup never seemed to fail last year.

Meaning lefty batters or left pitchers benefit?

I wouldn't feel comfortable starting any middling pitchers against Oakland right now. Even at the Coliseum or whatever the frick it is called. They are raking.

Tots, aren't you beating me enough already? Quit asking for help, too!

Batters (short porch in right)

Although, according to the link I just provided the YS park factor is near 1, meaning neutral. So the advantage to LH hitters must be balanced out by a disadvantage to RHs

This is more for future knowledge.

Bartolo Colon for a spot start today worked out well

Bartolo Colon is always a good spot start. Don't let the weight and steroid suspension fool you. He can still pitch fairly well IMO.

Go to MLB.com and look at team statistics and hitting for the last year or two. It will rank the offenses in almost any way you want. Something simple like runs scored or home runs can give you a gist of good offenses.
