I voted for Auction, even though I've never done one and this likely spells my absolute demise in this league.

It's not too bad Dan, got plenty of time to prepare. Read up on auction strategys & do some mocks.

7-0 auction. Simple majority needed?

I accidentally voted twice. Once as a commish, and once as an owner.

just go join some public leagues in yahoo and do auction drafts.

I definitely suggest doing at least one before hand. You will get the feel on how it works. Every draft is different though, which makes them fun.

And let me help anyone who hasn't done one by saying the top players WILL be over paid for vs the numbers given in the prep sheets. It happens in every draft i've been a part of, so just don't be shocked.

I've never done one either, but everyone should have ample time to practice and get plenty of reading done.

I've done some reading and listened to some pod casts about auction strategy before, but I've never actually done one.

But I'm pretty excited to try my hand at it.

Use the majority of your funds on your first 5 picks and $1 selections the rest of the way.

A keen strategy is imperative in an auction, much more so than in a serpentine draft, where an inexperienced owner can mask his or her shortcomings by hiding behind any ranked list of players. In an auction, players are usually nominated and sold in random order, bargains can be found at any point, as opposed to mostly in the later rounds of a draft, and market values can shift wildly from moment to moment.
