I thought it was a fair deal.
by what metric?
Hayward was the 19th best player, Griffin was the 42nd best player.
Not trying to be combative here as this has been the narrative in this league for years. BJL had a great team and accumulated studs, some at the cost of draft picks. You had a shitty team with not good players (prob bc you traded good ones) and a few extra draft picks.
Offseason - bad teams with picks get back the same guys they traded for with those same picks. Good teams gets the picks back they traded for those good players
again it is what it is but there is no skill or strategy to this league

I thought the deal was solid.
Karma paid a huge premium to recoup a 3rd Rd pick.

He has like 10 keepers, Anything he gets back is good for him
If you have a ton of picks, those guys will be there for you to draft
The balance never really shifts. You could hardball karma and his depth would suffer. In turn a bad team like Port gains ground.

I don't know how to find the numbers the 2nd half of the season, but Griffin was a lot better. And without Deandre I think his rebounding numbers are going to be closer to his first couple of years in the league. He will probably be a 24 and 12 guy still getting 5 assists from the 4 spot. His adp will be from 10 -12, a first rounder, while Hayward and Drummond are going to go the end of the 22nd, beginning of the 3rd. Plus I threw in a 3rd round pick. As far as 2 for 1s go it was as fair as you can get. This happens in every keeper league we have but I thought it was much more fair than some I have seen.

I'd rather these type deals than the 3 for 1s or 2nd/4th Rd swaps for a player.
Offseason stuff doesn't bother me as much as the in season trades. So easy to move picks or studs to fill out a roster. Draft is kinda pointless.
I've been trying to restrict pick trading in this league for like 4 years now.

It's more about the process. It's legal so I'm not faulting you.

I just don't get it on this trade...I wanted to trade Griffin 2 for 1 and had other potential deals without giving up a pick. I did this because I thought it was a fair compromise. Karma gets the most valuable guy in the deal, I get two good players and I give a pick to even it out. There are some trades like 3 for 1 that are legal too and I would be with you on something like that, but to me this one was pretty even. Maybe I overvalue Griffin but in my mind he will be elite next year and he was my biggest chip. I would have preferred to have kept him and traded Melo or Butler but they did not command as much.

just trying to understand big G's objection here. is it that the league is split on trading picks at all? not arguing just clarifying.
if we want to restrict pick trading open to discussion but should probably start at beginning of this season and applied to next year s picks. this has been lobbied for before.

Not really an objection
You gave up a 1,2,3 last season en route to a title, which was well within your right. You had a good team and then added more good players with those picks. Literally had about 10 keepable players coming into the offseason.
Now, I was mistaken, I assumed PCT had a few extra picks, which it looks like he didnt. But he essentially sold his only extra pick worth something.
My point is it's just too easy to recoup those picks. It's basically a rental for both sides and won't change unless the teams with the extra picks squeeze people like you in the offseason. Save the extra picks and draft the good players you cannot keep. The balance of power will never shift... before the offseason is done, you will have all of your picks back and a nice set of keepers... AND a title from last year to show for it.
Again, it happens every year and is legal. But it doesnt have to be like that. Nothing personal, but I want your team to suffer coming into the next season after losing those top 3 picks. It's just too easy
