Playing fantasy football for ZERO money is absolutely pointless and a waste of time. To me, not playing FF for money is = to going fishing without a damn fishing pole.

I imagine everyone thinks this way?

I do it in one league with friends... but I don't put money up for fantasy football... just don't follow the league enough to warrant it.

I have a great time playing fantasy football. Keeps me interested in games / players that's I otherwise wouldnt give a shite about.

The money I can win is just lagniappe.

Oddly enough, one of the best and most competitive leagues I've played in for fantasy was a free and public league.

Most leagues I play in have a $20 buy in w about $120-140 to the winner; so nothing to get excited about.

I've hated all of the big money leagues I have been in because as the size of the pot grows, the personality of the players changes. Now if we could do the daily sites in LA, I would be a lot more interested.

$50-$200 is the optimum buy in IMO because of this.

It is enough to care about winning but not enough to get shitty with people over.

I agree. I've limited myself to only playing two leagues for the past 15 years and both have fees of about $150-200. The money is almost as important as the bragging rights and keeps it interesting.

In 4 leagues. 3 are around $60 bucks, 1 is 500. A group of us play in all 4. The money keeps the guys locked in year round. The 3 smaller money leagues are for the bragging rights. The extra cash is just a bonus. The big money league is obviously about the money. Super competitive league, but it carries the same amount of shite talk and fun.

I've been invited into free work leagues, and I stop caring after a week or two. No trophy, no money...who cares?

One of my 7 leagues is a Scholarship league at the local chamber of commerce. 12 man $100 a man, $5 trades and $5 waiver pickups. Ends up around $2000 and you name goes on the plaque at city hall. On year 9 this year.

i agree, i play in 4 leagues, ranges 40 in 1, 60 for 1, and 100 for the other 2. All leagues are with friends that i've been in for 5'ish years. No1 ever gets bitter and I just cant fathom playing for free!
