What do you guys think of him? I'm thinking he could be a steal since he will be the primary guy in SD and should get all the goal line carries, even though Sproles will be the 3rd down back. He had a pretty good game against the Bears with 9 carries and 50yds. I know it's preseason but i think this guy could have a hell of a year. I'm just wondering how far he'll make it in the draft? 2nd, 3rd round? 4th?

He's getting drafted late 1st - early 2nd FWIW.

I just can't take a chance drafting a rookie runningback before late 3rd round. I want a proven running back or one with at least a year under his belt...i.e. Greene, McCoy, Foster...those all have just as much potential and have experience.

I wouldn't any over Matthews, though I agree that if everyone is so in love with him it might not be a good thing.

yeah problem is, is that off all those guys(wait tonight on Shon) but they look like Rookies. I watched the SD game, RM didn't look like a rookie, it surprised me.

The last time I took a rookie anything was JJ Arrington in the 4th round.....Killed my draft, the dude sucked.....for some reason I am considering taking Matthews in the 2nd

this is my problem too, but at the same time, SD does have an easy schedule

right, and none of those guys listed have proven they can put together a full year.

28% of his Fantasy Points came in one game last year

Took a shot on him (waivers)(he was dropped after week 3) and pretty much sat there in disappointment. I have a low opinion of Tom Jones, and that he couldn't beat him out for a more significant role made me question him, and the addition of LT (catching)(shon zero catches), just makes me want to pass on him

It just scares the hell out of me taking a rookie. But Addai did good, Peterson..incredible. I'm not dogging Matthews at all. I'm sure he'll do great...I just think he's being way over-hyped for not proving anything yet. I think I'd take him in the 3rd. Same thing with Greene.

Only reason I like McCoy so much is that there really isn't anyone that's going to steal his carries. And I know I can get him in the 3rd or 4th.

Mathews indeed played the role of "L.T." to a "T" during his limited time on the field. This is just a taste of what to expect from him this season as the versatile back will be asked to shoulder much of the workload for the Chargers in 2010. We like him as a quality No. 2 Fantasy RB, but there's obvious potential for him to wind up performing like a No. 1 option. Expect him to be drafted between 15th overall and 25th overall in all leagues this summer. (Updated 08/15/2010).

I really like this guy, but I don't think I can pull the trigger on him until at least the 3rd round..

I've had 2 drafts so far and he hasn't made it out of the 3rd. 1 2nd and 1 3rd so I don't know if its considered a steal hahaha. Now both of mine are keeper/dynasty leagues so that could be why he went higher because of youth and its a 12 man league. If its a 10 man league and its just a draft every year league then you might be able to get him 4th or early 5th

I've got the 11th pick in a 12 team draft, and I'm more than likely taking him at 11.

Wouldn't do it man. MAYBE at the 14th pick, but that's stil too high imo.

i can tell you we play in a ppr and i pick 6 out of 12, if he's there in the second round, i'll grab him, but i doubt he will be. Stranger things have happened though.

Why not?

What's a better value?

I don't like Shonn Greene much... not a believer in taking a QB that high.

I suppose if someone like Andre Johnson was there, I'd have to consider it.. but I have a feeling he won't be.

I like building my team around RBs. RB is the easiest position to make an impact as a rookie from. He is going to get 300 touches in a great offense. I don't really see how he could fricking suck.

He's at best going to be around 10-11 right? You'd rather have the 10th or 11th best running back instead of a top 2-3 QB or WR? I don't know your scoring system, but in mine that top WR or QB is going to outscore the 10th or 11th RB by a ton.

Just looked it up. 3rd QB outscored 10th RB by 173 points. 3rd WR outscored the 10th RB 112 points. Matthews at the 11th overall pick is simply not good value imo. Like I said, in your league maybe he is.
