12 team .5 PPR

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex, 1TE, 1 D, 1 K

Along with 6 bench players, it is also important to note that 8 out of 12 teams make the playoffs. I am drafting 12th in our snake draft and I am looking at taking the best available WR with my first pick and immediately taking Zeke. My thought process is that I can pair Michael Thomas or Jordy with Zeke who would've been a top 8 pick if it wasn't for the suspension. If I can get by a few weeks with Zeke on the bench and make the playoffs I should have a wrecking crew for a squad barring injuries and I hit on my other draft picks. Thoughts?

You likely wont have Zeke until Week 8

Investing the 13th overall pick in that is sketchy as hell to me

I adjust to the draft based on what happens. Were surprises in my draft with top QB's going very early so that changed things. That seems very early for Zeke, but if u get him I would also plan on later getting Mcfadden or maybe Jaquizz to help with first few weeks.

Best case scenario; His suspension is reduced. Or even overturned (unlikely)

Worst case; his suspension is overturned but then reinstated during your playoff run.

*Best case: he's granted an injunction and plays all season

8 of 12 teams making the playoffs almost makes the regular season irrelevant. You pretty much just have to not be a bottom feeder. Valid strategy. I would do it.

I say do it man. If you can be around .500 and then get him back week 8, I'd like your chances of making the playoffs with eight teams getting in. Getting into the playoffs is half the battle. You never know what will happen once you get in.

You can't waste a pick on him from the 12 spot

I would normally agree with this, but he's saying 8 teams make the playoffs. With that being the case, I think it's worth it if you really like Zeke. You still have solid RB options at the back of the 3rd.

However, you're also passing on some elite guys at that 12/13 spot. Guys like Melvin Gordon, Jordan Howard, maybe Devonta Freeman will be there. How much better is Zeke to you than one of those guys?

If you think he's really that much better, take him and trust that you can field a team good enough to be top 8 even without him. For me, the other guys are still Tier 1, so I wouldn't do it. But I can understand why someone would.

The key for me is that 8 out of 12 make the playoffs, if it was 6 out of 12 I wouldn't consider taking Zeke in the second round at all. Hearing who other guys are targeting I know Freeman and Gordon will not be available. I'm pretty sure Jordan Howard will be, but I just don't like that offense. If I don't take Zeke at 1.12 or 2.1 I know he will be gone in the 2nd round since I am drafting with 5 Cowboy fans. Pairing Zeke with Michael Thomas, Drew Brees and some other studs sounds really good come playoff time IMO.

Considering 8 teams make the playoffs, I would assume I'm going to be one of the 8, and would target Zeke higher than I would in a league where 4 or 6 make it. I also think it allows you to look at matchups during your playoff weeks. Assuming you're going to make the playoffs allows you to try to build/draft a team for a playoff run.
