So in 2 of my leagues a second TE was just blatantly the best available player (by about 10 spots) so I took them. Wondering what yall think about starting 2 TEs every week.
TEAM 1:
AJ GREEN
M BRYANT
FREEMAN
CROWELL
GRONK
J REED
Jarvis on bench

TEAM 2:
AJ GREEN
JORDY
HUNT
HYDE
KELCE
GRAHAM
Bryant on bench

Any feedback is appreciated

Gronk and Reed put up wr1 type of numbers when they are on, so it isn't a horrible start. Graham at this point in his career less so. I'm assuming you are talking about Martavis Bryant on your bench. Martavis should start over Graham.

Either way it is a pretty bad use of value. TE value is boosted by the use of a TE slot because their replacement value is another TE. Using one in the flex spot greatly diminishes their value. Your second TE should be worth more to one of your opponents who doesn't have a good TE than he is to you. A rational owner should trade you a better flex starter than the TE if they don't already have a good TE. I guess the issue is finding an owner who would behave rationally. Though I guess the injury history for Gronk and Reed could be a deterrent.

This.

But assuming you don't trade, Team 1 it's probably worth starting both, Team 2 no way.

I think it is a bad idea unless you are in a TD only scoring system. TEs get fewer touches and almost always fewer yards than WRs. TDs are about the only category that is similar or TE-favored. Look at this comparison:

Landry 16 games 94/1136/4
Reed 12 games 66/686/6
Gronk 8 games 25/540/3

Extrapolate the TEs over 16 games (good luck with that, BTW), and Landry wins in touches. More touches mean more opportunities for yards and TDs.

This is the conventional wisdom for a reason.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I traded Reed and M Bryant for Baldwin in the league with Reed and Gronk. And will shop either Kelce or Graham after one of them does well week one for another WR.
