100% agree with this. It has to be consistent. If you decide to do this in week 12, you have to go back and do the same thing for any other week that it was an issue.

OP clearly states that it wasn't consistent. I honestly can't see how anyone can side with the OP's commish in this situation. LE's argument is completely tangential to the original situation.

according to Abyss this was the only time to his knowledge that this situation occurred.

If Abyss has a problem with how the situation was handled he could have addressed it through his league. If the league supported him then the Commish could have adjusted the scoring and a precedent would have been set for their league going forward.

I have voiced how I feel about this. Again the only thing IMO the Commish did wrong was not making his actions known and transparent to the entire league. A commish should not act in secret...that is shady. However making sure lineups are set is part of the duty a Commish is supposed to enforce for other members.

Where did he say it wasn't consistent? Did we read the same posts?

I agree. I don't remember reading whether or not he addressed it with his commish at the time of the incident. Unlike LE's league, it seems apparent to me that the OP's league didn't have a rule in place beforehand to deal with nonattentive owners. My point is that I believe that the commish acted irresponsibly and unfairly by adjusting a player's lineup, thus rewarding him for not paying attention and punishing his opponent because of it. It also seems that early posters in the thread agreed before the thread went off the rails.

The thing is if the OP gets his way, someone else is pissed off. At that point just do what is fair.

FTR, we've had similar things happen in my eight year money league a time or two. It's understood that the commish stays out of it, other than contacting the player and asking him to wake up, and the inattentive player never plays in our league again. No one has ever had a problem with a season's outcome.

I would be in the championship if some dumbass in one of my leagues had set his team the second to last game. He didn't, but if he had won I would be in the 'ship. Cost me quite a bit of money.

shite happens

Yahoo did something like that to me once. It had a technical glitch with our league. I couldn't change my lineup in Week 2 and I lost by three points.

I missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker.

In the consolation round I had the highest score in the league. So I would have upset the regular season champ. Then I had a better score than either team in the title game.

That glitch stole a championship from me.

I've only changed a league member's lineup twice in 7 years. Once the guy was out of the country for a week and the other was a player was in the hospital.
Both times I told the league what I was doing and nobody had a problem with it

It only happened once in my longest league. A guy was without Wi-Fi/data and forgot to set his lineup the night before. He called the commish and he changed it for him.

Sorry, just got back. To my knowledge, there was never any rule in place for this nor had it ever been discussed. I immediately brought this the commissioner's attention and like I said above, he stood by it and claimed it was in the interest of fair competition. I don't really have an issue with it if Matt Jones was ruled out the morning of, however he was ruled out two days beforehand. It takes less then 30 seconds to pull up your lineup and make a move. That's my main gripe with it.
