It's a whole different topic for another time but I'll just throw out an example.

You're in the semi-finals. You own DeMarco Murray but he gets hurt late in the game. So they say Randle will be the starter. Making Randle you're #1 priority that week.

Texans play the Jags and Seahawks play the Bucs for example.

Also Packers have a great WR matchup and Adams is available.

Waivers go through and the 12th place team picks up Randle, the 10th place team picks up Texans defense, the team that was 6th but just got eliminated and sent to the loser's bracket picks up Seahawks defense. Leaving you left to get Adams from the Packers as your only pickup.

You have something to play for especially money and they dont. So is that cool on their part?

Im guessing you're one of those owners who plays the WW while playing in the loser's bracket on ESPN?

I guess you dont play in a league with a last place punishment

The majority of fantasy players dont. I can see that being a legit reason.

That's fine with me. It's never bothered me when I'm in the playoffs and I'll continue picking up guys off the WW when I'm out of the playoffs. You need to prepare for the playoffs as if you won't need the WW. If your season rests on whether or not you get a specific guy off the WW during the playoffs, your team is weak.

Exactly. In our league the last place owner has to wear a dress the entire draft day whether we go into a public setting or not. And has to get us beers or drinks during the draft.

That's why I used the Murray case for example. Most owners won't be holding on to a handcuff that late in the season

Why? I'm holding mine during the playoffs for the same reason I'm holding them during the season.

ETA: I truly don't understand why owners wouldn't be holding onto their handcuffs that late in the season. Can you clarify?

If you have Murray and you haven't figured out a way to get his handcuff, shame on you.

You play to win the game. I don't care if I'm 0-100, I'm going to do everything I can to win the next game. There's nothing wrong with playing spoiler.

Who on earth drops their handcuff for the playoffs? If you don't already own your handcuff, the playoffs are when you cut your mediocre depth and go all in.

Anyway, to go back to your waiver hypothetical generally, yes, I think eliminated players should be able to play waivers all the way through. If my team is solid and you were stupid enough to drop your handcuff, why should you be bailed out by the fact that the two of us are the only two teams left playing?

At this point if you're in last you have to run the table to make the playoffs
Isn't that more of a reason to make the trade?

Sounds like a last ditch effort to make a run at the playoffs which would not only not be wrong to trade Gordon, but it sounds like a no brainer move.

Nice. I have him as well. I'm 5-3 but I also have the 2nd most points in the league, so I'm feelign pretty good about my team.

by potentially making another team better by team can seem unfair to the rest of the league.
Why, if he is also making his team better and increasing his playoff chances?

But why make that trade in the first place?
To increase his chances of making the playoffs.
