How's my team? Drafted Machado 5th overall... Take a look

12 team league. I took Machado and plan on playing him at SS. (Thanks for the advice). In Round 4 there wasn't a bat I loved so I took top pitcher. I'm hoping king Felix has one more great year.
Overall I really like my bats and I like the amount of pitchers I grabbed late with upside.
1. (5) Manny Machado (Bal - 3B,SS)
2. (20) Mookie Betts (Bos - OF)
3. (29) Edwin Encarnación (Tor - 1B)
4. (44) Félix Hernández (Sea - SP)
5. (53) Matt Carpenter (StL - 2B,3B)
6. (68) Cole Hamels (Tex - SP)
7. (77) Jacoby Ellsbury (NYY - OF)
8. (92) Jonathan Lucroy (Mil - C,1B)
9. (101) Brett Gardner (NYY - OF)
10. (116) Maikel Franco (Phi - 3B)
11. (125) Héctor Rondón (ChC - RP)
12. (140) Randal Grichuk (StL - OF)
13. (149) Collin McHugh (Hou - SP)
14. (164) Yordano Ventura (KC - SP)
15. (173) Wei-Yin Chen (Mia - SP)
16. (188) Luis Severino (NYY - SP)
17. (197) Mike Leake (StL - SP)
18. (212) Pedro Álvarez (Bal - 1B)
19. (221) Roberto Osuna (Tor - RP)
20. (236) Marwin González (Hou - 1B,2B,3B,SS,OF)
21. (245) Joe Ross (Was - SP)
22. (260) Ubaldo Jiménez (Bal - SP)
So my best lineup would probably play like this
C- Lucroy
1B- Encarnacion
2B- M Carpenter
SS- Machado
3B- Franco
OF- Betts
OF- Gardner
OF- Ellsbury
Util- Alvarez
Bench- Grichuk
Bench- Marwin Gonzalez
9 Starting pitchers and 2 closers.
thoughts?

Assuming Gardner and Ellsbury stay healthy (which by no means is a guarantee), then you're lineup will be pretty good not going to lie. Your starting pitching I think will be your biggest issue though. Hernandez and Hamels will be good like always, but it still seems kind of weak at least IMO. In one of my leagues, I also have Osuna and Rondon as my relievers, so I think you're fine there.

Yeah there's almost no way to get 22 guys with no injury history or injury issues
But I agree with you. I'm hoping 2 or 3 of my late round pitcher fliers turn into studs.

Not sure how 28 guys go ahead of encarnacion, nice value. Hitting will be fine
Not crazy about the pitching but it's not terrible. Would've liked another ace instead of Felix. How many pitchers went ahead of him?

8 or 9 pitchers went before Felix. Guys like Harvey, Kuechel, Price, and Kluber were gone.
First 3 taken were Kershaw, Scherzer, and Sale. Maybe Bumgarner and Price the other two taken?
Felix was like the "last guy available" in the proven category you know? Pitchers made a heavy run in the 3rd and 4th rounds

Felix fell to me because of the fear of wear and tear over the years

He's only 29... so it's not like he's ancient or anything. That's a good pick.
I think McHugh and Severino are solid picks as well.
How did Encaracion fall to #29?
Your biggest weakness will be Saves, with only one closer. You might end up with 2, but Osuna is going to start out setting up.

As fate would have it, I wound up with the 5th overall pick as well and this is how mines went. I didn't want to pimp Machado as a 5th pick at 3rd while not taking him myself. However, I don't have the luxury of playing Machado at SS.
5 Manny Machado, Bal 3B
20 Mookie Betts, Bos OF
29 Carlos Gomez, Hou OF
44 Troy Tulowitzki, Tor SS
53 Felix Hernandez, Sea SP
68 Prince Fielder, Tex DH
77 Ian Kinsler, Det 2B
92 Freddie Freeman, Atl 1B
101 Hanley Ramirez, Bos OF
116 Michael Wacha, StL SP
125 Brian McCann, NYY C
140 Masahiro Tanaka, NYY SP
149 Shin-Soo Choo, Tex OF
164 Jordan Zimmermann, Det SP
173 Julio Teheran, Atl SP
188 Shelby Miller, Ari SP
197 Jung Ho Kang, Pit 3B
212 Aaron Nola, Phi SP
221 Mark Teixeira, NYY 1B
236 A.J. Reed, Hou 1B
245 Matt Holliday, StL OF
260 Stephen Vogt, Oak C
269 Hector Olivera, Atl 3B
284 Kris Medlen, KC SP
293 J.A. Happ, Tor SP
The only pick I regretted what Prince Fielder at 68. Ryan Braun and Kyle Seager were still on the board and David Ortiz went two rounds later. I've actually sent some offers for Ellsbury. He didn't come off the board until the 9th round in mines.

You might be alright if Jung Ho Kang comes on strong. You can play him at 3B and slide Machado over to SS.

I guess he didn't have the sexy name?
If Osuna doesn't win the job in the spring, I have 3 or 4 closers still out there I can go pick up.

Grilli (ATL), Rodney (SD), Jeffress (MIL), and Benoit (SEA).
They all went Undrafted. Also Holland with KC is available. What's up with him? His name has a N/A next to it.

Holland is having tommy john
i just dont think Osuna will get the job. I was going to say move on one of the other guys but i dont think any of those guys are guaranteed the job either at this point

Grilli has the best chance out of them...followed by Jeffress

None of them are guaranteed anything either. Osuna is going to get stuck behind Storen, but he still should put up great numbers.

Yeah I'm taking a wait and see approach. I think Grilli is my top target. But Rodney is right behind him.
If I don't get a second closer I won't sweat it.

They will both be gone the longer you wait, mate.

You should drop both Merwin and Ubaldo for Grilli and Rodney.
