I searched, but couldn't find a thread fresher than 2012 talking about BR options. My main league wants to do Vegas in 2020, but we need to settle on somewhere closer in the meantime.

Any suggestions? Good deals offered in return for hosting? TIA.

Not sure if you're a fan of their food, but my league went through Hooter's a couple years ago and they give you a ton of free shite. Draft board, mags, stickers, the whole nine.

How people draft and have fun at restaurants or bars I'll never know.

It's nice to have privacy, so you're better off at someone's house...if you can't get a private room or section of a place.

It would def have to be a private room. No way we could concentrate out in the open.

Why don't you inquire about a private room at Lauberge

I held one at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi one year in a private room. Everyone got a hotel room for the night, we drafted and partied

We rent a fishing camp in my main league every year in Venice and it's a blast.

Find somebody in the league willing to host the draft. Buy a board online with player stickers. Set rules for taking shots.
I.e. Everyone take a shot for first rd pick and 7th rd pick(halfway point) . Shot for ever ex bama player, Falcons player , etc...
Call in sick the following Monday

I set up one last year at Quaker Steak & Lube in Gonzales. They gave us a private room with a table to seat 12-14 people.

Find a local sports bar who wouldn't mind just opening for your group if yall agree to buy food/drinks.

Unless you play in a 60 team league you cant buy enough food and beer to even justify turning on the fryers.

We did ours last year at TJ Ribs and it was awesome. $20 all you can drink beer and all you can eat wings in the private room. Had tables for the board, another for stickers, and a big TV.

Gonna keep that and the lauberge setup in mind in the future. Sounds like a good time.

You going to tell me a local sports bar and grill won't open up for 12-14 people who drink beer and eat for 3 hours? You crazy.

I'm not talking about walk on or hooters.

That's exactly what I'm telling you.

Lets say that each of your 12-14 people has an individual bill of around $75 after the three hours is over.
$75 x 14 people = $1050.00

If the restaurant priced their menu items correctly, then 35% of that is what it cost them for the ingredients, food items, or beer.
.35 x $1050.00 = $367.50

Now they have to pay at least one, maybe two people to be in the kitchen each hour, and then have a waiter or two/bartender, plus the manager would likely be there as well.
Kitchen staff= 7.25 (minimum wage) x 2 employees x 5 hours (time to prep and heat up fryers + clean up time and dishes) = $72.50
Waitstaff/bartender= 2.13 (minimum wage for waitstaff) x 2 employees x 4 hours = $17.04
Manager= 15.00 x 5 hours = $75

So now that restaurant owner is looking at about $518 profit right?

Nope, he has to pay his taxes on that total amount, another $84.

The light bill, the water bill to wash dishes, the gas bill, etc... while not directly influenced by your group, they have to be paid and had to be used at a minimal rate for your group. So lets assume that all of that cost another $15 just for the amount used during your outing.

Our owner is sitting at about $419 assuming nothing gets broken. We also are assuming that he is opening up just for your group, so this is likely occurring on his ONE day off each week. Not speaking for ALL owners, but I sure am not giving up my only day with family and friends for a measly $419 just so CajunsTigersSaints can waste a sixth round pick on Brock Osweiler.

Keep in mind these are best case scenarios... 40% profit margins are RARE in the restaurant world...even for the Walk-on and Hooters... much less the "mom and pop" sports bars you are referencing.

TL;DR I'm not crazy, you're wrong unless the owner is stupid.
