Just wanted to give this board a heads up that Yahoo is running a season long Yahoo Cup DFS Challenge. Weekly winners win up to $1000, with the season long winners winning up to $50k. Its open to residents of all 50 states, since there is no entry fee, so hop in while you can. Great opportunity for those interested in DFS to get a taste of it at no cost.

Just put my team together, why not is a free shot at money.

Exactly. Plus I am hoping it can expose more people to the skill game that DFS is.
Tip for beginners is to stack a team. Either QB/RB/WR or QB/WR/WR or QB/WR/TE or some variation for greatest potential outcome. My greatest score ever came from a Pats stack 3 years ago with Brady, Lafell, and Gronk. All of Bradys TDs went to Lafell and Gronk that week. I finished 3rd in a mega tourney on FanDuel with it. Example for Louisiana folks would be playing Brees with Fleener and a WR of your choice. It can yield an awesome outcome if Brees goes for 3 or 4 TDs, because you can score with Brees throwing the TDs and yardage, but you can also rack up points for the receptions, yardage, and TDs his targets post if you also play the right guys.
Another tip is try your best not to play a player that might be playing against your D/ST. For example, if you play the Texans D/ST, try your best to avoid CHI, in particular Alshon Jeffrey. Jeffrey or any CHI players production will reduce the points the Texans D/ST can score for week one, because D/ST score based on points conceded plus anything points score off special teams.

wait wait, it's a skill that Brady threw all his TD passes to those 2 guys that week? Sounds more like a lottery ticket.

brah when Clive Walford goes nuts my skillful stack of him and Carr gonna pay $

To see your lineup, go to my contests, upcoming contests. You can edit it there all the way up until each individual players game starts.
Example, you can edit all you want till opening kickoff Sunday, but once the OAK vs NO starts, all players in that game, and any game that started at noon, will be locked. But you can still go swap out players that play that afternoon, night, or Monday night.

Its really a lot like the stock market. It is viewing trends and statistical data showing how a player or stock historically performs, then making an educated guess on how it will perform in the near future. But its free, so even if you view it as a lotto ticket, whats there to lose?
Posted on 9/7/16 at 2:13 pm to mkibod1
There actually is skill to it. The highest earners base their bets off of statistical analysis and modeling. I read a pretty interesting article about it last year.
But you sound like a fish. For normal people like us who aren't trying to make it a full time job, it is essentially just a lottery ticket.

Im not a fish, but not a pro. I play for fun when I can. Makes Sundays more exciting. NBA is the most fun to me for DFS. But its a free opportunity for people to play, just wanted to spread the word.

FWIW stacking a RB with other offensive players is not good advice. I agree with the gist of your post, however.
Edited to say that it's not necessarily bad to stack QB/RB, just that it's far less correlated than stacking QB/WR1, QB/WR2, or QB/TE.

Generally agree, but RBs that incorporate into the passing game should not be overlooked. Example, Week 1 a Texans stack with Osweiler, Miller, and either Fuller or Nuk could be a great call. Miller figures to get the bulk of carries, but will also be used some in the passing game. Texans are almost a touchdown favorite being at home, and in the event they need to milk the clock, Miller will be getting those carries. Generally I dont stack RBs, I prefer a QB with WR or 2, but thats also why I put the 3 options in that quoted post.

That's fair, and Miller this week is a good example

Zeke, D Williams, and Miller are a few of the RBs I like stacking this week. But it really is dictated by the teams scheme and usage of the RB. Like stacking Big Ben, D Williams, and Antonio gives you at worst 70%-80% of Pittsburghs offensive statistical output, why not stack those 3? It really only comes into play when there is a clear cut lead back, and one that plays into both the run and passing game. With a team like Indy though, I would not stack at RB, Id much rather go Luck with TY and Moncrief.
