I saw a report saying that Sjax has showed up to camp in the low 230's with around 5% body fat. Supposedly this is the best shape he's ever been in. On the other hand all signs point to Bryant breaking out this year. Who would you pick in a standard scoring league?

I've had WAY too many 4.5-6 point games from sjax over the years to take him anywhere in the first 3-4 rounds. I'd rather a boom or bust guy around that spot.

I like Dez this year. Depends on your 1st round pick though. If you grabbed RB in firt round, I would love to pair him with Dez.

Falcons run blocking is below average although they do run it often inside the 10.

I would go Dez.

I like Dez as the #2 or 3 WR.

I don't know how many times I've heard someone say they've come into camp in the best shape of their life.

You really have to look for point potential for a given position in the first few rounds.

After the first, assuming you grabbed a RB like Trich, how has more point potential this season? Dez or Sjax?

The easy answer is Dez, but when you look a bit deeper, you see this:

While Dez is a great pick and will likely get more fantasy points this season than Sjax, if you pick Dez, by the time you get to pick again and need a RB2, the point differential between Sjax and the lower value RB you will be reaching for could be more than the point differential between Sjax and Dez to begin with. All the while, the point differential in other WRs vs Dez might not be that great.

It is a great debate that I constantly flip flop in my own assessments of drafting value. Sometimes I think I need to go RB/RB in rounds 1-2 no matter what, sometimes I just think I should let the draft fall to me and adapt as I go.

I have been thinking of keeping both those things in mind and just try to stay a step ahead of the other guys in the draft, sort of like a poker match. Knowing who you are drafting against can be just as valuable as your overall draft strategy on paper.

I am going to try and let the draft fall to me and adapt. That's the only way you can really do it IMO. The one rule I will follow is to take a RB in the first round. After that, all bets are off depending on how it falls.

Yeah anyone would love to have him as a #2 or 3 wideout.

Dez is easily a top 5 WR.

Also this thread was from last year fellas. The point was Dez did breakout and I called it.

Last year I had Dez as my #2 and Calvin as my #1. They collectively fricked me the first half of the season and then proceeded to frick everyone else the second half
