So i just built a new deck and the Thompson water seal honey gold that was put on it is not growing on me unfortunately.
am i screwed?
What are my options in putting a new stain on it. I feel like i might like a light grey since my house is white.

Give it a year, that stuff will have faded off and then you can redo

They make a stain remover for decks you can get at lowes. Get a long handled scrub brush and go to town. It's messy

yea it turned out to gold
I actually hate the sealer stuff even though its a necessity.
Im use to my old deck not being sealed. When it rains now, the water is puddled up on top of the deck. Have to blow the deck off after it rains if i intended to use it

Give it a month or two to dry out and stain with another color

Power wash it, it'll get down to new wood, let dry a week then stain the color you want...

Paint every other board purple.

Now we're getting somewhere.
I'm sure you know this now, but the colored Thompsons sucks. It's never turned out the color i wanted it to, and the darkest base they have is basically a light walnut color.
If you want something accurate or darker i would stain it with true deck stain then put a coat of clear thompsons on top.
