LINK
I have heard of it, but I saw it on TV. It looked great. There is a recipe in the link above.
Thoughts? Advice?

Putting some chocolate in chili is common. It's not the feature ingredient as your title might suggest.

It's pretty common, I believe.
I've come across it in plenty recipes, but as far as I can recall, I don't think I've actually done it. I don't keep chocolate on hand and never want to buy it for chili.
I'm pretty traditional when it comes to chili.
Went to a chili cookoff a while back, and my favorite one was just a regular traditional chili some old lady made. All the weird stuff people were trying wasn't good. One legit looked like Alpo.

I've had it with chocolate before, I hated it.

I've had skyline chili hot dogs. Was pretty good, but I'm not a picky eater.

Derived from Mole Sauce.

Put some in for the first time a few weeks ago, it wasn't bad but it took away that traditional chili taste. I wouldn't do it again.

Recipe looks great. I will try next weekend for tailgate. I put chocolate in my chili all the time. It gives it a rich flavor. Unsweetened chocolate flavor goes well with beef. One of my go to beef short rib recipes, braises short ribs in chocolate and red wine.

I need that short rib recipe.
