Are you looking to fish or just paddle?

A 2 hour drive is ok, I was thinking maybe some of Louisiana national parks, just wondering if anyone had any experiences

You can try the Amite. A little ways North has some nice scenery.

I'd go to the big Alabama in Sherburne WMA. It's only 45 minutes from BR.

I kayak hundreds of miles each year and gave insight to this question in the thread below.
See my posts here

You can also launch into intracoastal in brusly at Morley's marina. Paddle north 1/4 mile then turn left into Choctaw bAyou. I've posted a bunch of pics of this paddle as I was doing it. Here ya go

A few pics of Atchafalaya paddle LINK

Bayou Plaquemine paddle

Another good paddle, but more than 2 hours away

40 minutes east, put in under the Hwy 22 bridge just south of Springfield. You can take the Blood River upstream past Carter Plantation for several miles. Once you pass the Warsaw Marina there is minimum boat traffic northbound. It is a very scenic and peaceful trip.

Have you tried Tickfaw
State Park ?
Seems it would fit what you are looking for- we had some good day trip there in the past.
