that's a lot for a backup guard...doesn't make us better

I completely agree. I don't want him for anything close to this. I was speculating on what the Clippers would ask for

I wouldn't mind trading a top 7 protected. Anything outside of that and you have no idea what you're getting.

I'd be fine with that. Even if Bledsoe isn't that talented, you probably won't find anyone better than him past 7th in this year's draft.

Hornets showing interest in Bledsoe
Let me give some perspective from a Clippers fan. IMO three things work against a Hornets-Clippers trade for Bledsoe.

1. The Clippers won't trade Bledsoe unless they sign Chris Paul to a new contract since Paul is a FA after this season. If Paul signs elsewhere, Bledsoe is the Clippers starting PG next year. So it makes no long-term sense to trade Bledsoe until Paul's situation is resolved.

2. It makes no short-term sense to trade him either since the Clippers chemistry is so good right now and Bledsoe is a big part of that chemistry. A case could be made that the Clippers are playing better right now than their talent warrants, and that boils down to chemsitry. From all the local media reports, this is a team that genuinely likes one another and enjoys playing with one another. The Clippers won't mess with that chemistry in a season where they have thier best chance ever at winning a championship.

3. What do the Hornets have to trade for Bledsoe that wouldn't weaken the Hornets? Your two best players, Davis and Gordon, have to be considered untouchables. What is there to offer after that? The Clippers don't need several marignal players in return (eg, Aminu). They already have a good bench. I see them trading Bledsoe, if they do, in a one-for-one trade for backcourt depth, especially at center. our back-up center right now is Rony Turiaf. And while he's a high energy, good effort kind of player, he's not the answer as a back-up to Jordan.

My 2 cents.

If the Clips need a backup C then Lopez would be a great fit in a trade, but he's the only center on our roster and I don't see us trading that for more backcourt depth.

Well, if you made that trade Bledoe wouldn't be backcourt depth. He'd be your starting PG.

As for Lopez, I like him, but if you make that trade you don't have a starting center. That's what I mean about a trade for Bledsoe weakening your team.

I don't think anyone is talking about giving up Vasquez.

I have to agree with this. I don't think Dell would give up Lopez at this point.

I like Bledsoe but i dont think we have the pieces, nor the "need" for him.

could we use him? Sure

but at the expense of weakening our team elsewhere? or draft picks?

If Vazquez was sucking, then yea, maybe.

I think there are similar guys we can target that are similar that would be cheaper.

Not trading any lottery pick for Bledsoe. He is wildly inconsistent. He plays well when the game is out of reach. Watch the Clips when there in a dog fight with another team. Dude is nowhere to be found.

I made this argument a week or so ago. In my opinion, his PER (which creams many britches around here) is inflated because of these reasons. Not saying he's bad at all, but his stats do not typically come against first unit players. He also doesn't have to worry about the defense keying on him.

I can buy it. Roberts is a better shooter, just not the athlete Bledsoe is.

I just think he needs more PT.

Bledsoe is rangier but I don't think they are far off offensively. Both undersized PGs who are really SG.

Bledsoe is overrated, but I can't go that far.
