please explain why nobody is upset that jermey hill who averaged 10.2 ypc doesn't touch the ball when all you need is 2 yards? and you have 2 chances to get them with 1:58 to play? why are we even talking about who was open for a pass? this kinda of play calling will make you lose a game some of the time, all of the time.
how can you get paid to coach on such a high level and make these decisions? it makes it worst that les was so lovey dovey with clemsons coach during the pre game press conference. its like miles made a new friend and gave him a new friend gift, a chance to win the ball game if you can just pull off a 2 min drill down to fg range.
we deserve better than this.

nobody as in who, the coaches? because on this site we've been pretty pissed about Hill not getting more carries since last nite.

this is the one fact we all agree on

The 2nd down pass was to a wide open WR, can't be that bad of a play call

I agree with this, if you are going to line up in power I, then run the ball

Not when you have Jeremy Hill sitting around instead of running the ball...

I agree with this. No guarantee the run works bc obvious run down. But the play was there. A coach has to be able to trust his QB to make that throw.

It can be when IT DOESN'T WORK!!!
You don't take that chance. Grind the clock, make them use their timeouts and hopefully pick up the 1st to end it in the process.

At some point, you have to blame execution. Good play calls are only good if they are executed.
Receivers were running free all game. Mett either didn't hit them, or he was sacked before he had a chance to think.
ETA: I was ok with the 2nd down call, but thought a run was necessary on 3rd. I'm not defending the coaching. This was a disaster at every position (except Hill).

That 2nd & 2 call was a perfect call. Mett missed it. It's that simple. They had not been able to convert short yardage situations running the ball all game. Against Bama everyone complained b/c he ran the ball. Now everyone complains b/c he passed.

no no. clock management. you can't put a game in the hands of chance. you need 2 yards, clemson to use their t.o.s and the clock to run out. there are more chances of failure in getting 2 yards by passing than by just punching it in.

OK.
First down, Clemson lined up with 8 or 9 in the box. We went play action for an 8 yard gain. Not a terrible call and it worked.
Second down, another pass. Yes, very questionable call. Should have given it to Hill, even if he gets stuffed at least Clemson HAS TO BURN A TO. That said, if Mett hits wide open WR for first down, game over. Questionable call, but not the worst call ever.
Third and 2, however, nobody in their right mind can defend that pass call. Again, even if Hill/Ware/whoever gets stuffed Clemson HAS TO BURN A TIMEOUT.
Again, 2nd down call was questionable a best, but to not run on third down and not make clemson use at least 1 timeout is inexcusable. Once again, Miles time management skills cost LSU a ballgame.

Actually, in this case, you don't. It's called clock management. The odds of Clemson stopping Hill for less than two yds on 2 plays is virtually nil. And, if they DO stop him, they still have to burn all of their time outs to keep any chance of having time on the clock.
Even if they had executed it well, it was a stupid, stupid play call when all that you need to do is run out the clock.

yall should have run the ball on 2nd and 3rd down i agree but i see miles side of it nobody expecting pass our pass coverage terrible all year. the player was wide open so for people wanting to blame someone id blame mettingroper guess his eyes were to busy looking in the stands trying to spot who he would be chasing around the dome after the game
