for each team Saturday? I'll say LSU has 10 penalties for 80 yards and Alabama 4 penalties for 30 yards.

Seriously, though, after the game, we'll compare the actual penalties called in the game to where the teams stood nationally coming into the game...

quote:

NCAA Least Penalized Teams

#16 LSU

#48 Alabama

FWIW, Tennessee is the fourth least penalized team in the country, yet somehow in their game against Alabama, they were flagged 8 times for 70 yards while Alabama was only flagged one time for 10 yards. Tenn-Bama Box Score

Don't get me started on 2007 LSU @ Alabama
LSU - 14 penalties for 130 yards.
Alabama - 2 penalties for 15 yards
Box Score: LSU @ Alabama (2007)

fricking ridiculous. There is now way a team only commits 2 penalties in a game where holding could be called on 75% of the plays. Fortunately, we overcame the officials and our turnovers and still beat them in their house.

I would bet everything that LSU will have more penalties than Bama.

I'll be fine if we have more penalties, BUT: If in the 4th quarter, after an apparent game changing or go-ahead or icing touchdown by LSU, there is some bullshite call by the refs against LSU, I think I will go postal.

I caution all squirrels in my yard to not be within .22 or .410 range if that happens!

LSU 10 penalties for 110 yards, Bama 4 penalties for 45 yards.

LOL... LSU wins 24-23 on a last second FG from 32 yards out.

Damn, we're one of the least penalized teams in the country and we're already starting pre-emptive threads bitching about the officiating.

Please tell me that you're not surprised by this statistic?

In the 2005 game, didn't LSU get called for something like 15 penalties and Bama only had 2?

Yeah, I recall a phantom pass interference early in the 2007 game on a 3rd and long that breathed new life into them, and LSU was up I think 17-0 at that point. One fortunate deep pass into heavy coverage later, and Bama was right back in it.
