Two visits and I am very impressed, this is now my favorite mid-level restaurant in BR.

My wife and I like to split appetizers and entrees, we had the fried green tomato shrimp remoulade for an app. The tomatoes had a very nice crunch and the remoulade was delicious, had a tangy tomato component I have not seen before.

For an entrée we had the fried catfish, topped with tartar sauce, on etouffe. The catfish was crispy and the etouffe has a nice dark roux. This just works and works well. Very nice sized portion we had no trouble splitting.

One of our table mates had the special, broiled redfish topped with crabmeat. It was served with sweet potato fries and according to our friend, the best asparagus she ever had. Very nice portion which everyone had a taste of.

I was jonesing for the strawberry shortcake dessert, served on sweet biscuit, but they were gone by the time we ordered. The house made brownie and ice cream was excellent. Even had a rare treat, good restaurant coffee, a dark River Road.

We had beers from a small, but good, draft selection, so I cannot speak for the wine list.

Service was great, I love the slow serving pace, it's not like 'lets get them out of here for the next table'. Even thought the dining area floor and ceilings were hard surface, and the room was full, it never got so noisy your couldn't hear anyone. The kept the jazzy background music at a low level.

Well appointed and decorated place, enjoyed the laid back ambiance. This is in the strip mall on Jefferson where La Contea, another place I like, took over from D'Angelo's.

Gonna have to make a return visit here. Went once, had the red beans and an appetizer. Both were solid. The atmosphere was a 1:10 which was only thing that I really had to complain about.

Went last night.

Atmosphere is lovely. Beautiful, clean, aestehitcslly pleasing little bistro.

I started with the Pomegranate Margarita which I found to be a little heavy handed on the fake pomegranate syrup...was not refreshing and overly sweet.

Fried green tomato app was pretty good. Flavorful, properly fried but with too much remoulafe sauce for the portion. Shrimp could have been bigger.

I had the crab cake entree and was disappointed that they came out completely battered and fried. Lots of crabmeat, but not lump, and rather bland honestly with a brown mustard sauce that was way to powerful a flavor for the cakes. The maque choux was also pretty bland and the 'shoestring' fries were OK but definitely too thick to be described as they were. Was sort of disappointed by my pick.

My date got the grilled fish with strawberry mango sauce and it was much, much better than mine. I wished I had gotten it as well.

So, this time it was hit and miss but the feel of the place is on point and I'd definitely try again.
