Just a drive from Houston/Katy. A trip to the lake could possibly fall through so I need back up.

Family unit friendly. Seven year old son. We were looking Austin and Frederickburg. Wife and I love both. Both have places with some awesome pools. Just wondering what else can be done for a kid? We have done Hamilton Pool in Austin and that bastard was too cold. My son wanted no part of it.

A cool pool will keep him happy, but I am looking for more. A full day activity that will keep my dumbass from family style bars.

Any other options? I'm not interested in more than a 3 hour drive. And wife will be too skittish with our son floating the river.

Hyatt lost pines or hill country resorts... might be pricy though without points

We've looked at them both. Too pricey for what you get. And you are trapped in the woods and have to eat at their places.

Friends have been and said same. Place was great but pricey and isolated.

Bump.

What about Boerne?

Or Canyon Lake?

We've been to New Braunfels and have no interest in the lines at schlitterbahn. But we have never been up to canyon lake. Any good places to stay? Food? Hotels?
