Yep, I found it odd Johnny didn't manage his roster better than he did. I remember early on he wouldn't mind processing some players like Corban Collins, but in the end clearly let guys who did not belong on this level to continue to eat up a scholarship spot without getting any real minutes every season. You cant just let non contributors hang around for 4 years when you only have 13 spots. You have to build quality depth and cant do it with juniors and seniors who can maybe give you 4-5 minutes a game of horrible to below average basketball. Yo uexpect some freshmen to have learning curves and maybe not give you that quality depth right away, but when you have scholarship juniors and seniors who are clearly no better than walk ons, you have a major problem.

It's not a matter of running people off. There will be some natural attrition. I would be shocked if Robinson returns. I was shocked he returned this year.
He definitely doesn't fit into Wade's system. Robinson needs to transfer somewhere that's a better fit. He would benefit from a redshirt season sitting out.
Robinson is one. Kieran Hayward, who cannot play dead, is another. Brandon Jenkins is a third.
I would think Patterson and Epps, being seniors who've been here since high school and who've at times given positive contributions, might stick around for a final year. But from everything I've heard about Brandon Sampson, it would take a complete sea change in his attitude and maturity to keep him from getting sent packing. And then you have the stories about Galen Alexander wanting a release. That's potentially five or even six spots you could open up for recruits this spring.
Now - to go out and nail down a half-dozen SEC-quality recruits for the spring signing period coming in cold would be a recruiting haul for the ages. Half of those would have to be JUCO's and to get numbers like that you'd need at least a couple of them to be Batts and Kiir, probably. It's more likely the number would be more like 3-4.
Either way, though, this is a roster with a large amount of fat on it, and I don't see this coach carrying fat on his roster if he can help it. Not with what I've seen of him on YouTube.

Jenkins is unproven due to injury. He could be good.
I think Hayward can excel in Wades system.
But, in reality, Blakeney and Reath are the only proven commodities.
Sampson and Mays have potential.

Hayward was supposed to be able to shoot. He literally threw up more airballs than made baskets. You can't carry a kid like that on an SEC roster.

Hayward is a freshman and still has one of the highest ceilings on our team. We need wade and the new assistants to get guys like him and Sampson to reach their potential

Hayward, Jenkins, Robinson need to be replaced and find a new home, I hate doing that to kids but you not getting anything out of them and the team needs size and talent to compete. Robinson had 3 years to get in shape, playing at a lower level school may help him have fun his last year.

Don't think Sampson's attitude will vibe with Wade.
I think he'll transfer.

You guys are giving up on Hayward too soon. He's a freshman that played terrible competition in Australia. He's a hard worker and has the tools he just needs experience

I agree that there are too few scholarships in BB to keep guys on the roster who do not contribute (and likely never will), but as a fan and alum, I hope they don't just drop guys from their scholarships without helping them get funding for tuition via other means (grants, assistantships, etc.). If they transfer to another school where they'll receive a scholarship or decide to step away from the team on their own terms, fine, but I hope that we help them get the schooling that we promised them when they signed.

What attitude problems? This has never been mentioned before . What do you base this upon?

Lots of people who have had access to the team have described Sampson that way.
He's going to have to have a come-to-Jesus with Wade. Hopefully that will work out, though, because there really is some talent to work with.
I'm going to give all the attitude stuff a reset, because some of that attitude/chemistry business could have been a reflection of leadership - and the new leadership of the program will look absolutely nothing like the previous leadership.

Lol yea I can tell your not sure. Everyone said he was gonna be nothing more than a Europe player but he made the blazers roster.

Not all of us share such exalted status.
Not saying this may not be accurate, but usually this kind of thing gets discussed ad nauseum on this board and i don't recall it ever being stated.
