Good luck man. Its not the easiest thing in the world.
The biggest thing I felt was feeling extremely tired in the mornings no matter what at times. Sometimes I would be hungier than usual, others I would not be hungry at all. Some weird side effects. The worst is not being able to wake up. I suppose your body becomes dependant on the nicotine to fully wake up in the morning.

It's all in your head. You probably formed a habit of dipping around the time you take shits, so your brain has formed an association between those two things. Now, you are tricked into thinking that you have to dip in order to shite. Kind of like how people "need" a cigarette when they drink. They don't need the cigarette. They just associate drinking with smoking.
Strangely enough, you've somehow managed to incorporate shitting with this same phenomenon.

Nicotine gum. You chew it then put it in your lip just like a dip. It's like dipping with no spitting. Only downside is a piece doesn't last as long as a dip.

Thankfully I've only been doing it regularly about a year and a half. I have a couple of friends who have been doing it regularly for years and they were smokers before that so they've been on nicotine for years before/during that. I never started smoking. I'm not worried about being able to quit. I just want an alternative that works almost as good to get the bowels moving.

This is not true, Nicotine has reasonably powerful laxitive properties. Physiologically it relaxes smooth muscle function which is responsible for constipation. This relaxation stimulates the bowels and gets things going. Like any other drug when you use it repeatedly your body becomes dependent on it to do it's function. I would eat a more fiber rich diet, caffeine and if necessary use Nicorette gum as a dip to wean you off snuff.

That's true to an extent but I actually started regularly dipping when hanging out with a couple of good friends that dipped between drinking. The possibility of oral/throat cancer although statistically small scares me enough to quit cold turkey. I'm not worried about being able to quit.

umm try drinking lots of water and taking metimucil 3 times daily.. its will take a few days for your body to adjust but after that you are good to go.
