I'm cooking Emeril's vodka pasta sauce for my girl friend tonight. We usually drink red cabernets when we eat in, but I wanted to find a wine that paired with this meal. No idea where to start.

Please advise. Thanks!

I would go with a Syrah or Sangiovese.

If you want to stick to the Italian theme without breaking the bank you could do a Barbera d'Alba or a Vino Nobile do Montepulciano. If you want to spend more you could get a Brunello or Barbaresco or Barolo. Those three are great Italian wines and along with Amarone the top reds made in Italy. You should be able to get a good bottle of those for around $50. Barbera d'Alba will set you back about $20-$25 a bottle and Vino Nobile is in the same range.

Zinfandel or a Sangiovese. It is actually fairly difficult to pair wines with I-talian food. Most people instantly think of wine with Pasta, but its not always an easy match.

Went down to the local wine store and the guy working said the Langhe Nebbiolo 2014 was a great pairing. I also picked up a bottle of Gabbiano Chianti 2015.

Using fresh roma tomatoes, fresh basil, and cheap gut rot vondka for the vodka sauce. Most recipes say to use penne pasta, however, I prefer using bowtie with this disk. The one time I used penne, the sauce didn't hold as well on the penne as does the bowtie.

That's a good dinner wine. I prefer the Barbera I suggested but the Nebbiolo will work just fine. Enjoy.

Amarone wines usually pair very well with Italian food.

Here is a good one:
