My grandpa says mustards will grow on a hardwood floor if you spilled the seeds in the house.
Hope that info helps.

Well prepared seed bed for starters. Biggest mistake I see being made is over seeding/planting to thick. Get a jar with a lid. Make one hole with an ice pick. Place seed in jar. Walk down the row constantly shaking seed on the bed. When you get to the other end you'll think I've not planted enough. Trust me, if you did it right...you'll have plenty of greens when they grow. Irrigate during very dry conditions.

My favorite time of year when they finally come into season. I'm a mustard green freak.

How do you do yours?
I might sub mustard greens for kale when I make my Disney Gumbo

Brown bacon, add a few diced onions and garlic to rendered fat and saute. Once sauteed, deglaze with a splash of white wine and add greens. Once wilted, add chicken stock and let simmer until tender. Salt and pepper to taste.
And the pot liquor is the best part.

Me too, but I'm afraid it's too hot for baby plants right now.
I planted my fall garden last weekend, and this sunny upper 80's has me worried.

I'm a collard green man. Transplanted Aug 16. Will pick lower leaves every couple months starting about mid Oct. Best after a frost or light freeze when the leaves take on a purple hue. I add only a tiny amount of water and some bacon fat and cook for 2 or 3 hrs. The liquid from the cooking greens is substantial.
