I know TAF is the big bad evil organization that has caused the downfall of the game day experience at LSU home games.

Instead of continuing the fight I have decided to join the ranks of the establishment. Therefore, short of donating $100,000 next year, what is the best way to get TAF points?
Does giving to the School of ____ plus Athletic Department plus TAF get extra points? I've looked at their (TAF) website and it really doesn't say if donations to the academic side count. Any help from the establishment would be appreciated.

Yes. For every $4000 donated to academics via LSU Foundation, you get 1 TAF point.

If you have the means, the quickest way to earning points is to donate $5000, $10000, or $25000 in a calendar year. This gets you bonus points. In essence, if you donate $1000 per year for five years, you will have much less points than someone donating $100 per year for four years, then $5000 on the fifth year.

If you don't have the means right now, donate $100 a year. This gets you three bonus points a year. they will start to add up to getting season tickets. Don't donate 500 dollars a year. You are better off saving 400 dollars a year until you have 5000 saved up.

In my situation, I donated $100 per year for five years, on the fifth year I could have had season tickets in the upper deck. That next year they introduced the south club and I donated 5 grand. That jumped me from 3300 to 1429 at that time. If I did not donate the 100 dollars for the previous four years, I would not have had the chance to buy club seats. I have donated 100 dollars per year and have fallen to 2100.

You make the biggest jumps donating in $5000 intervals, but Donate at least $100 per year. And although you won't get to the top 2500, you will eventually get tickets.

Donations to the Alumni Association also allows you to gain TAF points. Contact me with any questions...JasonR@lsualumni.org.

How many points do you have in total (at this point #2100+/-)? Do points fall off after so many years are do they continue to accumulate for life?

I have around 48 philanthropy points.

I have around 100 lifetime points.

Philanthropy points gets you new tickets. If you donate 100 dollars per year you get about 3.2 points for the year.

If you donate 1000 a year you get five points total for the year.

If you donate 5000 a year, you get 20 points total for the year.

You don't lose the points, but as the next guy adds more points to his account you could get passed up. I have fallen 700 spots over three years, but if I did not donate the 100 dollars the past three years, I would likely be around 3000.

Once you start donating don't stop.

Then tax time comes and you get a nice refund.

There used to be a 20 year rolling basis with points. Not sure if it exists any longer.

Save money and buy them on the second hand market. With the dumpster fire in the AD's Office and the school's administration, any revenue will just go to waste.

OK, so per your earlier post doing $1k a year for 5 total would have been 25 pts. Doing $100 per year for 4 is 12 plus $5k in 5th year (20) total 32 pts. So and extra 7 pts for an extra $500 over the 5 yr period.

You have 48 philanthropy vs 100 lifetime and claim Phil.. gets tickets. What is the difference between these two type of points and how do you differentiate between the two when donating?

See the following for example. LINK

You get two points for every $1000 donated to philanthropic programs.

You get 3 bonus points per year when donating between $100-$4999.

You get 7 bonus points when donating $5k to $9,999K.

If you donate $100 for four years, you get 3.2 points per year =12.8 points. On the fifth year if you donated five grand you would get 3 bonus points + 10 points from philanthropic donation + 7 bonus points for donating 5 grand in a calendar year. This equals to 32.8 points for all five years.

If you did $1000 each year for five years, you would have 20 points total.

See the difference?

If you are still confused, contact TAF. They will guide you and assist you with pursuing your goal for tickets and location. They are very helpful.

What will your points get you? You can literally buy a ticket to any event ever on the secondary market for cheaper than a hefty donation each year. If you're loaded and looking for tax write offs I get it. But for the average fan it makes little sense.

Best thing that I have seen to do is to donate the $100 per year to get the basic TAF points every year...that keeps you on par with the crowd. additionally, you should give a little something extra every year (i.e. buy a brick at the tiger cage, donate to an educational fund, donate to the alumni assoc, etc.).

this gets you the max points for a reasonable contribution and several years down the road can get you tickets, etc.
