DPMS AR-10 .308 Does anybody here have one? Are you happy with it?

My cousin has one, shoots top notch, only thing was I don't know his specific model but it was commercial spec bcg,tube, and stock. It shoots great but he wants to sell it bc it's kinda heavy.

What kind of recoil does it have?

My 10 year old son shoots my AR-15 really well. He is short and struggles with stock length on most guns. The AR platform with adjustable stock is perfect for him.

Thought about buying an AR-10 for him to hunt with and to also to give me a reason to buy one.

I have shot their REPR rifle 2 times. It was very accurate and precise both times.

I have one but don't shoot it very much. no issues. put a 3-9 scope on it for hunting but only used xbow last year. it was accurate enough at a hundred yards for me, and that's a long shot for where I hunt.

This is why it has not produced sub MOA groups for you. No rifle, no matter how good, can make inconsistent ammo shoot consistently.

A gas gun is only going to be so accurate unless you go really high end. Factory guns will do well to stay under 1-1.5 moa in my experience. You might get lucky and get a tack driver but it will be just that, luck.

This just simply isn't true. I've seen multiple AR15s/AR10s that have tested sub-MOA from the factory. One example would be the S&W M&P10.

As for felt recoil, the beautiful thing about going with an AR is that almost all of them will have a threaded barrel for a muzzle device. You may want to double up on hearing protection but if you're only concerned with limiting recoil, a muzzle brake is a simple solution.

To the OP, spend the extra money and get the Smith. It will run better than the DPMS and have much better accuracy. If you need a reviewer to tell you, watch this NutNfancy review. Skip to about the 25 minute mark to see the accuracy. He was consistently shooting sub-MOA on a factory rifle - M&P10.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the M&P10 has an 18" barrel and ambi controls...

I have the full JagerPro setup with the Panther DPMS AR-10 in 308 with the 3rd Gen night vision scope and all that.

I almost never shoot it on paper. Maybe twice a year I shoot it on paper at 50 yds 1.5" high to make sure it's still "on".

The way I hunt hogs is that we have bait stations and walk up to within 50-60 yards down wind of the corn pile. Then we set up with a tripod and cut loose on the pigs.

I'm more about volume than accuracy. But when the dust settles there usually a pile of dead hogs. And then a couple of days later there's usually a bunch of buzzards around. Our rule is that if they make it out of the food plot, we call it a "miss".

I'm not exactly a stickler for details.
