Where is the best place to buy contact lenses?

It seems the optometrist I have been going to has been raising his prices. In addition to what I pay through the break my insurance gives me, he charges a "fitting fee" for doing nothing newer than he has always done.
If I know my prescription, where is the best place to buy them? And am I correct to assume his office will give me my prescription if I ask?

1800contacts does. I think you have to submit your receipt and some form to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Locally, Sam's Club has the best prices.

They HAVE to give you your prescription cos it's Federal Law!
You can buy online - it's much cheaper. You just choose your brand, enter your prescription, dosctor's name and and that's all - they verify it by themselves. You can find you prescription on the box of your lenses or just get it from the office.
To compare prices I use Contactsprice - it shows where is the cheapest price on your brand with best discount code. I saved a lot of money!

For the ones that order you lenses online how do you get your prescription...will your eye doc do visits for just the script? I know what mine is now...but as time goes on and it changes. I imagine the eye doc trying to tell me that they dont do just scripts for me to get them cheaper online.
