ot every teacher has the exact same job. Some have more kids to teach, less planning periods, etc. People like to get mad when teachers complain, but teachers do a lot of shite that I would never do. Teachers are a very important resource for all of us at multiple times of our lives, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt
Yeah there's a huge difference between teaching at Pleasantville Magnet High and Glen Oaks High

Not BS and I teach advanced math. I get to school around 6:30am every morning and first period begins at 7:30am, so I guess that's an hour early. We have PD a couple times a month where the students leave at 12:44 and we have PD time from 12:44 to 2:44. Also, each semester we have a PD day where the students don't come but the teachers do and we have PD time the whole day.

Since I teach almost all seniors and today was their last day, my grades had to be finalized this evening. Starting tomorrow I just go up to school and help with setting up graduation stuff and handing out caps and gowns, etc. I have a few juniors left in each class but they are sent to help out around the school, like in the office, student services, ISSP, library, etc.
Ah cool, that's not bad. Enjoy the break.

3rd year & you're already only teaching seniors? Yeah, you're in great shape. Seniors have all the early hormones done with & are doing what they need to do to graduate.
Try 3 years of freshmen/sophomores. They are coming out of MS with minimal skill, if they're Regular Ed. Honors kids at least know how to format. If you're in an area with Hispanic immigrants, they're likely 1st generation American education in their family. Trying to teach them English, Math, & general school protocol will eat up your class period faster than anything.
Also, underclass periods are typically overcrowded & in math-the teacher RARELY have their planning period, let alone 2.
That said, once you get thru Year 1, your lesson plans are written & you save them digitally. Edit minimally year to year. So you're golden. Print them out in pre-planning week. Turn them in/post in the folder the district requires. HS Math isn't changing year to year other than the textbooks or the schedule the districts tells you to follow.
But hey, we're in the same war. You're just in a nicer officer's tent further back from the front lines...
