I think Buddy Hield did them in. They were 6-7 after that game.

Alabama at home game. Halftime.

It was the bama game. I don't know what happened but we have gone to shite since then. Everything was right in front of us before that game. We led the sec and just beat A&M

No LSU played well after OU until that Alabama game at home.

I'd say halftime of the Tennessee game when Hornsby went down

Don't think he ever had it, I think he thought having Simmons alone would get him in the NCAA T. anything after that would of be icing on the cake, he didn't think he had to coach to get their.

Yeah, you're right. Bama made us quit again.

Bama game at home.
We were riding high after the A&M win at home. Then shite the bed against Bama and it just went downhill from there. Not sure why, we still had plenty to play for.

When exactly did he "have" the team?

In the Bama game Jones inexplicably played zone defense most of the game (something LSU does not do often or well). LSU lost that game and I think the players revolted realizing just how stupid a gameplan Jones put together. I would bet almost anything that he tried to call the team out a bit in the locker room that night and the players essentially gave him a collective "frick you". They don't believe Jones is a good coach, nor do they respect him.

First practice when the new players discovered that JJ didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

It would be poetic if Simmons' godfather got canned along with Jones. That way he could feel guilty for getting his boy fired.

After 2 games, I was still waiting to see what the big deal about Simmons was, regardless of his stats. He was underwhelming with his actual style of play. Also, I saw the team jump out big on scrub teams, and then let the leads piss away to barely double digits. I kinda remember thinking "uh oh". Things were borderline embarrassing after the loss to Charleston and the 0-2 trip to New York, and again the Simmons non-factor.
There was a little rally for the first half of SEC play, but you still got the sense that the wheels were about to fall off. We tried SO HARD to lose games that were wrapped up.
